Re: Some nice loses around the conference....

How does Suns losing help? They're like the 9th seed...team you guys better worry about is Utah ;) They could be first in division by end of the week

So could we my friend, so could we. :ghoti:

The Suns losing helps ensure a playoff spot. The other teams, especially Denver and Utah, losing helps us get a better seed in the playoffs.

Merged: Who do we root for?

This is going to get tough down the stretch! For example- tomorrow night, do we root for San Antonio or Dallas? Houston or Utah? On Thursday, Dallas or NOLA? When these teams match up, who do we want to win or lose? Somebody please let me know!

Re: Who do we root for?

Tomorrow you root for San Antonio. Houston or Utah is a tossup but Houston would probably be ideal in that scenario to prevent Utah from catching up. Thursday you root for Dallas because they'll only make up the game they lost while knocking New Orleans down a half game.

Re: Who do we root for?

I want to move up in the standings so I'll be rooting for Dallas, Utah, and Dallas.

Re: Who do we root for?

Most of all, I'm rooting for Portland, Miami and Memphis. Atlanta would be a nice bonus as well. If those things happen, Blazer fans have had a great day. I'm also rooting for Houston, because not only are we fighting Utah for playoff positioning, we are also fighting them for the Northwest Division title. San Antonio and Dallas depends on whether you want as many teams below us to lose to ensure that we make the playoffs or as many teams above us to lose so we get a better seed. We only need one of the top nine to miss the playoffs for us to get in, and Phoenix would have five more losses than us if we win tomorrow and Miami also wins, so I don't feel as big of a need to root for the other team under us to keep losing, so I will root for Dallas, both against San Antonio and New Orleans.

Gives us more room for error.

Re: Who do we root for?

I am not an optomist, so I will be rooting for the teams behind us to lose. Until I am pretty certain we are in, and then I will root for the teams ahead of us to lose.

Re: Who do we root for?

In Utah v Houston I'd root for Utah because the Blazers are trying to catch Houston for the #4 slot. So their loss brings the team closer, provided of course that Portland takes care of business.

I agree with this statement.

Houston/Utah is a tough one, but I hate Utah more. Dallas and Phoenix are our best two chances of making the playoffs so they always take precident in who I root to have lose.

Re: Who do we root for?

I'm rooting for Houston to knock back Utah. They are only a 1/2 game behind us, and have been playing very well lately. First step for the playoffs is winning the division. Have to focus on winning the division before focusing on moving up to 3rd or 2nd in the standings. Winning the division starts with us knocking off Denver, and having them lose, but I'm more concerned about Utah in our division than Denver.

I agree with you MM. If the teams behind us keep losing then we make the playoffs for sure.

Exactly my take as well, and to go even further, the loss column is really all that matters to me at this point.

Re: Who do we root for?

I root for everyone behind us to lose. Lock it up baby!

I understand where you are going with that - but I still do not know what it has to do with you not being a vision blurring droplets of water... ;)

Re: Who do we root for?

:sigh: Why can both Utah and Houston both lose???? Is that too much to ask??? :dunno: If they both hold each other scoreless do they both lose??? Dare to dream, dare to dream . . .

Re: Who do we root for?

I just want the Blazers to win! Does it matter who wins or looses behind us if we loose?

Re: Who do we root for?

Alright! Leave this thread open the rest of the season and somebody determine every night who we are supposed to pull for!

Re: Who do we root for?

Tonight, I'm rooting for the Trail Blazers to win and HCP to provide us CSN viewers with brilliant replays in glorious HD.

I am just thankful I am not anal enough to pick through all the posts and point out spelling errors like some do. ;)

Re: Who do we root for?

Friday Denver goes to Utah, who do you guys want to win there? ;)

Re: Who do we root for?

If 1 team is ahead of us and the other team is behind us I root for the team behind us.

Re: Who do we root for?

I'm also rooting for the Blazers to be on DirecTV!

Re: Who do we root for?

I don't root for any of them. This is all about what the Blazers do, not what they do.

Re: Who do we root for?

Root for the blazers and who the hell cares about the rest of it. if portland wins the rest will take care of itself. haven't you people learned from the past week, rooting for teams like the lakers will only let you down.

Re: Who do we root for?

That's "for whom do we root?"

Here's the answer: all of the games have to go to dectuple overtime with multiple (non career-threatening) injuries along the way.

Meanwhile, back in the real world where teams don't win every game they play, scoreboard watching is a crucial (and fun) part of playoff races in any sport.

If the Blazers win tonight it will effect my desire for who else wins or looses, does it not. If we are assuming that we are going to win and we root for Utah and them they win and we loose we have rooted for the wrong team.

I don't have the capacity to know who to root for until I know if we win or not then I get to see just how fortunate the Blazers and me are. (great grammer I know)

NO!!!!!

Dectuple overtime, GOOD.
Exhausted players, incapable of so much as closing their mouths to avoid drooling, GOOD.
Injuries, NOT GOOD.
