PHX is hurting but far from done, you gotta root for HOU in that game

Gotta root for Utah in the other since that makes first place not as far away. Utah knows they are good, one more game added to the win streak wont change that

edit: you know, I change my mind...Utah is better than DEN and will win the division IMO. They are the team to catch in the long run (of 20 games) so root for DEN!!!

Man, I'll tell you what. I can't drive down the highway without seeing:

this city ½ mi.
that city 2 mi.

...and thinking about how many games back my city is at that time.

I'm not rooting for the bolded, though. I am hoping that the other team loses.

Yep. For me, every team that plays the team in the 9th spot is my second favorite team that day. Unless, of course, the Blazers slip to 9th. ;)

I have really learned to hate Denver. But i live in Utah.....so Denver
I have to root for anyone playing Phoenix until the Suns are mathmatically out.

The championship runs through the LA, so who care what round we meet them in? This year anyways. Just get in.

I'm rooting for Utah and Phoenix. I want Portland to catch Houston and Denver.

I've always made fun of people who say, "You should merge this thread with another." BUT, i started a thread about this yesterday. Maybe we should just keep one going because we will be asking this question EVERY night for the next 5 weeks!

Why does it matter now? We lost last night, our hopes for the Division title are gone, and Utah is playing hot so they just passed us. We're done. :)

Utah over Denver....I'll take tied in the loss column for all three teams.
Houston over Phx....the further away the Suns are the better.

Tonight's games..
OKC over New Orleans
Washington over Dallas - not going to happen.
 
Just for the heck of it, I went through and looked at the Trail Blazers' remaining games, the Mavericks' remaining games, the Suns' remaining games, the Rockets' remaining games, and the Jazz' remaining games. I think those five teams are going to jockey for the last few playoff spots, with the Spurs, Nuggets, Lakers, and Hornets taking the top four.

I came up with this estimate:

Trail Blazers go 13-9.

Rockets, with a slightly tougher schedule, go 11-9.

The Jazz with a schedule about as tough as Portland's, go 12-8.

The Suns finish 12-8, as well.

And the Mavericks, with what looks like the easiest schedule of all of them, go 14-6.

I didn't do this intentionally, but what I come up with are four teams with identical records - 51-31. And then, the Suns wind up a few games out of the playoffs, at 46-36.

I think a few identical records is actually quite possible. It makes the head-to-head matchups with the Mavs, Rockets, and Jazz very important.

And of course, it makes it vital to win the "easy ones" like today's game against Minnesota.
 
Toronto up by 6 going to the 4th. This is huge. This is the only winnable game for the jazz on their long road trip. Go Raps!!
 
It would be nice to see this break their backs, but I have very little faith in the Raps.
 
Oh well, they've got maybe two more road wins before they bust. Fortunately for them, all but two of their home games are a joke.

Damn you Toronto. Everyone and their moms knew Utah was going to win that game, no matter if the Raps were leading in the 4th.
 
Denver losing by double digits at halftime against the Queens. Goooo Sacramento!
 
Nuggets down 13 in the 4th quarter at Sacramento!
