Our schedule is cake. I'm so happy we've passed Denver. This rules!!!
Except we haven't passed Denver.

It's all the same right?![]()

We're both 11 games behind....
Games behind is only relevant when both teams have played an equal number of games. When they haven't, winning percentage shows which team has the superior record. Having an extra win and an extra loss isn't a good thing...that's a .500 record over the extra two games played. .500 is worse than either team's winning percentage.
Even if you want to be "technical" about how the NBA records it, winning percentage breaks "games behind" ties. So in all standings, the Blazers are placed ahead of the Nuggets.
It's cool to be contrary to combat "homerism," but to do it to combat logic or facts doesn't make sense.

I've always made fun of people who say, "You should merge this thread with another." BUT, i started a thread about this yesterday. Maybe we should just keep one going because we will be asking this question EVERY night for the next 5 weeks!
Off the topic of the Western Conference: The Charlotte Bobcats? They've won six in a row and are sitting one game out of the eighth seed in the East.
