Merged: Playoff Race

Is it really necessary to move every single thread started about a game involving our competition over here?

Yes. That was the point of this thread. There will likely be games of significance to Portland every night...this seems like a good place to discuss them. It's not like today's Utah-Orlando game is of special significance.

It looks like Utah is going down big tonight. And Dallas lost to the Lakers earlier as well.
Even though we played terribly this morning and lost a game to Atlanta, there are some good things going on today as well. We hurt ourselves, but so did a couple of other teams. We should be in 6th after tonight's events. Let's hope our Blazers can right the ship and get a win in Memphis.

ps. I have a date with a very beautiful girl tomorrow to watch the Blazers game at a bar/theater. Her idea, not mine. Kind of excited.

I disagree. I would rather see individual threads. This thread is less likely to grab my attention.

She sounds like a keeper!

Re: At the Half: Phoenix 74, GS 72

I keep expecting to see Alex English enter the game.

Phoenix scored 46 points in the 3rd quarter. 40 SIX!!!! HOLY CRAP! For comparison, the Blazers scored 49 points vs. San Antonio in "The Perfect Quarter" in 1991.

Re: Merged: Who do we root for?

Houston tonight! I want the Hornets to get one more loss!

OKC beats the Spurs

And either the Hornets or Rockets are going to lose, so we're sitting pretty tonight.

Am I seeing this right, Houston goes into NO without Yao and beats the Hornets handily?

New Jersey still within striking distance of Denver, too.

Wow... break out OKC. I can see them challenging for 35-40 wins next year and being respectable. No playoffs yet for them but they're on a somewhat same path as us.

With Tyson chandler, Hell Yes. Without him, I see them getting to 31 wins next year (with there added rookie, they need a big in the worst way)

With Chandler, I'd have put OKC as a playoff contender.

Without him, I think they'll approach 40 wins, somewhere between 35-40 wins.

just keep winning OKC and take yourself out of Blake Griffin contention..there is no other impact player in this draft outside of BG

Harden would be great for OKC...

Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Green, whoever.

Yeah, I think Harden could be a very nice player in the NBA.

Re: Merged: Who do we root for?

You got your wish. Tonight I am rooting for Detroit to beat Dallas. That seems to be the only game where there is a chance for an upset.

I'm also rooting for Sacramento, Minnesota, Washington Philadelphia and Golden State.

That's a lot of FGA's demanded. OKC only gets to play with one ball.

It truly is the Blake Griffen lottery... There are a few other very very good prospects (and Harden is one of them, no doubt), but for a team like OKC that already has the scoring threats (Durant, Westbrook) at the guard spots needs a big guy.

Bad Night So Far

Dallas wins.
San Antonio wins.
Utah wins.

Philly is playing the Lakers even near half-time. Should they win, it will provide some salve to the night. It's nearly always a good thing when the Lakers lose.

Gramps...

Re: Bad Night So Far

They were all playing at home so it's pretty much expected.

Re: Bad Night So Far

We are in control of our own destiny. If we win around 6 to 8 more games this season we are in the playoffs.

OKC needs defense, not more offense. Thabeet would make sense.
