Chad Ford: Blazers trade talks

I don't think this has been posted already forgive me if it has.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=TradeTalk-090217

The hottest name at the trade deadline? A guy who hasn't played a game this season: Raef LaFrentz of the Portland Trail Blazers.

"If you asked owners in the league who they'd rather have right now, LaFrentz or Stoudemire, I think more than half of them would prefer LaFrentz," one executive told me. "That's how screwed up this thing has been. I guarantee you [Blazers GM] Kevin Pritchard has gotten better offers for LaFrentz than the Suns have gotten for Stoudemire."

serioulsy if w edont make a deal....its an absolute disgrace on pritchards part. no other way around it. we have the best contract in teh NBA to offer and we cant get a deal done???? sorry if no deal is made.... kp loses the great gm status crap. how can you not make a move when teams are begging to shed salary????

why? you want him to make a deal just to get a deal done? if the deal isn't there then i'd favor him not doing anything then us getting hosed in a deal just because.

Exactly.

The only way I'm upset with KP is if Wallace and/or Butler both get traded elsewhere for less value than RLEC.

Ed O.

What's the difference. I would bet you would be bitching about the player we traded for before his first game as a Blazers is over. I would guess even before half time. You would say the guy sucks and we made the wrong trade or we should have keep whoever we did trade.

problem is... pritchard OVER VALUES players like most of you. Other then Rudy, Joel, Oden, LA, Roy....everyone should be on the block. Nobody after those names should be declined to get wallace or butler.

The problem is...you have no idea how KP values his players. Nor do you have any basis for the claims you've been making about him other than your growing impatience for a deal.

i agree, except i think rudy should be on the block. i dont think batum should be on the block, and bayless should be in between the trade block and untouchable

i like batum, and bayless better than rudy

Heh. Hilarious that you say we all overvalue the players, and then you put more players as untouchable than I would. For the right return, Rudy, Przybilla and Aldridge would all be available. Technically, that goes for Roy and Oden, too, but realistically there isn't a return that would be offered that would make them smart to deal.

MIXUM, you and Pritchard overvalue the players. :)

I am assuming that none of these trades are happening at this point. Trade deadline is going to pass soon, and they would have happened by now.

No there is two days before the trading deadline is here. Most trades or at least a lot of trades usually happens the last day just before the deadline. I'm not saying we are making a trade but because there isn't a trade already means nothing. There hasn't been many trades so far what 2-3. I'm guessing there will be at least 10+ more trades before the deadline.

Why? If Pritchard is truly in the cat bird seat, it makes all the sense in the world to let desperate teams bid up against the deadline and then pick the best one.

Exactly. Someone is bound to get desperate and go into cost-cutting mode the day of the deadline.

yep it only makes sense to wait till the last possible moment. right now he is probably creating a bunch of "deals" and when trade deadline comes he'll choose which "deal" he likes the best.

Anyone listening to 95.5 right now? During the commercial recap they said the potential deal between the Blazers and the Bobcats are dead.

So does this make it more likely that we are actually going after Wallace and this is released as a bargaining move?

I just came. Thank god for Paul Allen.

This also marks the first time in history the two sentences above have been written together.

yet the bobcats deal is dead.... and carter is going to houston.

that means jefferson or butler (who the wiz say they arent trading)

salmons to the knicks

well we are pretty much fucked ..... now the news about oden will be next. talk about having no balls ...kps face will appear in the dictionary

Do you like purposely misinterpreting rumors?

Salmons to Knicks is being TALKED ABOUT. Carter to Houston is being TALKED ABOUT. Just like Jefferson and Butler to Portland is being TALKED ABOUT. Nothing has happened yet.

If he is. You can play the what if game all day long. You can also look at it that if a good deal is on the table, and if you wait to long, maybe the other side will rethink it and back out. If the deal was there, it would have been done by now, so I assume it is not there.

Isn't the game owned by the Blazers? I would not be surprised if the game says whatever KP wants them to say.

i think paul allen owns the radio station. so yes he could have them say whatever they want.

I'm not saying he is or isn't, just that the lack of a deal doesn't mean one isn't available or happening. Trades are often consummated close to the deadline, especially more complicated ones.

Reports have it that KP has options and that RLEC is a very sought-after asset. That would be consistent with Pritchard waiting as close to the deadline as possible

Why is it that we aren't allowed to bash posters like Mixum while he constanly types trash like this and bashes our GM for no fucking reason. Your posts are getting really fucking old.

if kp makes a good trade...i will admit im wrong...if he stands pat...hes a fool

Public figures, like players, GMs, owners, etc, are fair game. Posters are not. If you don't like what he posts, ignore him.

You have no idea what's being said in the discussions so you have no room to judge.

KP will make the right choice.

Chris Broussard: The Bucks badly want to move Richard Jefferson, and probably will.

They're talking with Portland, which is looking for a small forward. And the Bucks are also talking with San Antonio -- Jefferson would really look good in a Spurs uniform.
