Merged: Who would you give up for Paul George? (1 Viewer)

You have to shed either Crabbe or Turners salaries in an Indy trade...I actually try to keep Vonleh but move Leonard, Connaughton, Harkless any bench player in a deal that includes Turner or Crabbe....if possible keep a couple first round picks to shore up the bench. ...Dame, CJ, George, Vonleh and Nurk....that's a core....

Neil goes all in

No idea about salaries matching.....

CJ and Harkless for Paul George

Three 1sts Crabbe and Vonleh for Jimmy Butler

Use one of your exceptions to grab a PF and one to grab a solid backup center

We probably wouldnt win shit because we'd have 4 guys that like the ball, but wed be the bell of the offseason ball.
All in? Here you go...

Wonder how many picks it would take to make this happen...

I think we should save all that sweet trade ammunition for Kawhi Leonard and possibly LeBron James. ;) I think Meyers, Connaughton, Harkless, one draft pick, any bench player and either Crabbe or Turner can get you more than just one star. That's a lot of dudes we're trading.

I mean, Dame, CJ, Kawhi, LeBron and Nurk is an even better core!

It would be so much fun to trade for him and then have him walk to the Lakers after the season.

See, that's why you make my deal. That way, we can be abandoned by a different superstar each year for the next 5 summers. George in 2018, Anthony 2019, Butler 2020, Dame 2021, and Nurkic in 2022. Would be super-duper fun!!

Indeed. You only make a deal for George, in my opinion, if he's willing to sign an extension. Otherwise, it's not worth the risk.

Can he sign an extension this summer?

He can. If he makes one of the All-NBA teams, the Pacers could offer him a designated player deal that no other team can match. I'm not sure if the right to offer such a deal transfers in a trade, but I don't know of any reason that he can't sign a normal extension post-trade.

CJ McCollum is trying to pre-order his tickets to the PG-13 movie.

The Portland Trail Blazers guard held a Twitter Q&A on Thursday due to his flight being delayed and was asked who he would like to see the team pursue in the offseason.

@CJMcCollum Who would you like to see the Blazers go after this off season? Draft & free agency

— DTea (@DTillery79) April 27, 2017

McCollum replied simply by tagging the handle of Pacers star Paul George.

The Pacers and the Blazers were both swept in the first round, and the latter does have a need at the forward position after making due this season with Al-Farouq Aminu and Maurice Harkless getting most of those minutes. But Portland doesn’t have nearly enough assets to swing a trade for George, who won’t hit free agency until summer 2018, and the four-time All-Star already seems enamored with a different Western Conference team.

McCollum and backcourt partner Damian Lillard are both under contract through 2021, but the problem is that Harkless, Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, and Allen Crabbe are signed to long-term deals above market value as well. Those kinds of contracts clog up cap space and reduce Portland’s ability to field a competitive trade offer, making an acquisition of George seem like more of a reach for them than anything

Fez wants to pursue Kelsey Plum.

About the same chance of happening.

:C

Um, Portland does have "nearly enough assets". just because they won't possibly use them, there's no way IND turns down, say, CJ and 5 firsts over the next 3 years for 1 year of PG.

Only way we have a chance of getting PG is if Dame/CJ are able to get him to say "If I'm traded, Portland is the only team I'd be willing to sign an extension with."

And even then they are murky at best.

I think PG would really enjoy playing with Dame Nurkic and C.J. So when people say PG would just be a one year rental I disagree.

Just say no to bleacher report.

And I think that we are the easy answer. giving up 2x all NBA player with 4yrs of control to create a sg/sf logjam with 4 players making over 18M (not includong Mo or aminu) and having shabazzle dazzle as the best pg on the roster seems, uh, illogical. well, at least 1 yr of logjam until Paul goes to lal

Agreed. That's a desperation move. Let Dallas or New Orleans make a trade like that.

That's not to say I don't want Paul George on the team, I just don't think it's realistic. So, if I'm going to have a fantasy that isn't based in reality, I'll watch some more porn.

And you shouldn't blame bleacher report. C.J. is the one that tweeted it.

In the west we're going to need one more needle mover to compete with the Warrior and Spurs, etc...a Paul George or Jimmy Butler or Porzingas would put us in the conversation...New York, Indiana and Chicago as well as the Clips will probably blow it up ...Indiana because George wants out.
