Gentlemen, received this from a friend. Thought I'd share


Game 7 of the Conference Finals is upon us tomorrow night. Next to the Game 7 vs. Vancouver in 1994, this is the most important game in Rangers current history. To lose would be not only a disappointment but an absolute failure. I say that because of what we have done over the last few years to get here:


·Traded Dubie and others plus draft picks for Rick Nash.

·Traded our captain Ryan Callahan and draft picks for MSL.

·Traded “The Duke” and draft picks for Keith Yandle.

·Have played over 100 playoff games since 2012 including 3 conference finals in the last 4 years plus a Stanley Cup Final.

·Are 11-0 in elimination games at the Garden in the era of the King.

·Won the Presidents Trophy this year.


Those are just some of the statistics that have made the Rangers playoff runs an annual “Right of Passage” for Rangers fans. It is something we have come to expect from our Beloved Blueshirts. If there was ever our time to do it, it is now. This is our time. The Bruins, who are traditionally our toughest opponent in the East, did not make the playoffs. Our nemesis last year, Jamie Quick and his Kings have been golfing since April. If ever we had a chance to go all the way, it is this year. I will go even further and say that to win tomorrow and not win the cup will be a failure as well. Nothing less will be acceptable. After watching the Ducks/Hawks game last night, I had a revelation: We will win the cup this year because we have the best goaltender. Andersen & Bishop are very good but young & inexperienced in playoff games and Crawford, while experienced and a cup winner, is not as good as The King. The Bolts, Ducks and Hawks have very good teams loaded with talent and to win will be a monumental task. But I truly believe that we will win tomorrow night and then win the cup because we have the internal fortitude, the talent, the experience and most of all, we simply have the best goalie in the league.


OUR TIME IS NOW. ANYTHING LESS WILL BE A FAILURE!

I am very nervous about tomorrow. 17 goals on the road and 4 at home bothers me so much. I can't even analyze this anymore. I cannot accept another failure.......
 
This is a game 7 recording......"we will prevail".
 
Well said Tommie. I think this captures a lot of the mental make up of this team and the "run" they have put together with this core.

While anything can happen obviously in a game 7 I don't think its an accident or random chance that they are 15-3 in their last 18 elimination games or that they are 10-0 in their last 10 played at home. You know what you are going to get from both Henrik tomorrow and this team. Its the resolve of the team that is often under valued. Sure they don't always play with it but they certainly do when they have to.

Tampa is a good talented team but I think this team has figured out the recipe to beat Bishop: Crash the net or make him move side to side. He is huge but doesn't move side to side that well and he leaves a TON of rebounds. I am also really encouraged by how Yandle has played in this series. Moving the puck, taking shots, getting points. Miller-Brass-Nash line is not only clicking but they are crashing the net. That wont change tomorrow. The Rangers won't play like game 5 again. Not in an elimination game.

I expect an early lead and a 4-1 or 4-2 type game tomorrow night.

Bring out Amirante and lets do this
 
I'm not guaranteeing anything, but they better come out flying, and hitting. Get somebody in front of the net, and shoot the puck on a consistent basis. On paper the Rangers are a better team (IMO), they need to show up and play like it. Like Tommy said, anything less, will be considered a disappointment and a big failure.
 
For more decades than I care to recall, the Rangers have always been
somebody else's stepping stone to success. We are in a new Century.
All past losses, tragedies, bad teams are over. The new dawn is
upon us. IT IS THE RANGERS' TIME.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it an absolute failure, as Tampa was arguably as good or better on paper entering the year. Plus, when you get to the ECF and a game 7 both teams are on equal footing. The Rangers won the Pres trophy but aren't by any means a dominant team and would be a slight underdog against Chi/Anaheim. It would be a slight disappointment as it means another year off the 4-5y window they're in. If they had lost to Washington in 5 you might be able to say its a major disappointment but not on May 29th.

As for the season, yes it would be a waste IMO if they don't win the cup. When the bar is set as high as we have set it after the SCF loss last season, and our great regular season this year, I don't see how it wouldn't be a failure.

The bottom line would be they lost game 7 on their own home ice AND didn't make it as far as they did last season. That would have to go down as a failure coming off of last seasons playoff run and the regular season we had this year.
 
Get bent Chuck. I hate these asswipe Rangers fans that only show up in the third round of the playoffs and start preaching. Either be there from the beginning or shut your ass.

This is why you don't take games off during the season, this is why it's important to win the presidents trophy. Granted the last change would be a bigger advantage if we had great face off centers but even still we can dictate the lines.
Being at home for this game has such a mental advantage. We know the record, THE know the record for Ranger home game 7.

Get the puck deep, bang their defense, make them make mistakes, get to the net and get some dirty goals.

I will say this for Tommy D...he hasn't pronounced the team dead 15 times...LOL. You need to relax a little dump, maybe cut down on the caffeine...:).
 
Better why Strudwick, because they had more points? You're sounding incredibly homerish. I guess if they don't win this year what, fold up the franchise? They will be as good or better next year.
 
I get Dump's point about people who jump on board in the 3rd round of the playoffs, but his comments were out of line towards Tommy D who has mentioned before is an older person. Funny how someone like Tommy D can be a good poster but another poster of similar age like Cagedlion can be such an insufferable clown.

What i don't get about the original post is why this is the biggest game since '94 when by winning we'd be where we were last year?
 
My own take is we have been the favs in the East. IF we make the SCF, I think that series would be a total coin flip. I bet you as many people, if not more, would pick the Ducks, and especially the Hawks, as would pick us. Actually I think the large majority of people would pick the Hawks and we would not be the fav in that series. Against the Ducks I think it would be pretty close, but it still may be edge Ducks.
 
Not sure why he had to tell the guy to shut the F up though, that's the part that seems over the top to me 31. Is what it is though.

As for the game tomorrow night, I have seen a lot of people say this is the biggest home game since 94. Last season in the SCF by the time we got home we were down 2-0 already and pretty big underdogs. So they view tomorrow night as bigger.

Not saying I agree or disagree, just saying I have seen others say it.

Lol Homerish.... Rangers are better in net and on defense than both teams. The Rangers beat the ducks 4-2, 7-2, split with the Hawks... Hawks have Kyle Cumisky as their 6th dman. Rangers had a great regular season and got home ice.. Ducks are a 2 line team like TB.. Rangers are tough as hell to eliminate on home ice...Still sound homerish?

The Rangers have +/- against both WC teams if they end up playing either. They are sort of a mirror image of Chicago without as much high end talent but better goaltending. Anaheim might bang them around pretty good but the Rangers are a quicker team with a decided edge in goal.
 
They would probably end up in a game 7 against both. Especially if Z somehow returns and contributes. Getting a puck mover like Yandle helped cut the gap even more with the WC elite.
 
Anyone you are so confident in your team is blind homerish. Never mind that the team you root for had the best overall record and best road record in the league. Never mind that the team has been one of the best in the league for the past 3 seasons. Never mind the fact their goalie has an unbelievable record in elimination games.... Lets just ignore all that shit because I am a huge cheerleader and I have absolutely no fucking idea what I'm talking about.

The East has been weak for years now which is part of the reason why a flawed team like the Rangers can keep making it deep into the playoffs even though they keep going down in series and forcing Gm 7's. There just aren't many good teams that can make us pay for the stupidity.

I can totally see why some would consider the WC team as the favorite for the Cup. Hawks throwing out Kanes/Toews/Sharp/Keith/Hossa is a pain the ass to deal with, and Ducks throw Getzlaf/Perry/Kesler/Silfverberg at you so it doesn't get any easier.

Yes, we have an edge in goalie, but the importance of a top flight goalie to win the Cup is greatly diminished. I mean, Ben Bishop is taking us to a Gm 7 and had us down 3-2 in the series. I repeat, BEN FUCKING BISHOP. Before that it was Braden Holtby who made us sweat it out. We're not exactly talking the Belfour/Roy/Hasek/Brodeur type of competition here. ANA has had no problem getting to the same spot we're in right now (Gm 7 of CF's) with a goalie most non-Duck fans have never heard of.
