Leonard finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, helping the Blazers finish the preseason with a 4-3 record. It was the second time during the preseason he played extended minutes and scored in double figures.

In his mind, he should something. Now, it’s all up to Blazers coach Terry Stotts.

I'm guessing that he should something is a typo but I can actually see Meyers being that confused at times. "I know I should do something, just not sure what."

Pre-season is over and we still don't really know who has won a spot in the rotation....but it doesn't seem to be Thomas Robinson. I'd actually rather see Leonard play PF than Freeland, because at least Meyers can hit the 3....he's not as good at defense but he brings something positive to the table whereas Freeland is just sorta there...

This is pretty much decided as far as i can tell. Kaman, Blake, Freeland and then you have Wright, CJ and Leonard. That is what you will see. You ain't seeing Barton or TRob until garbage time. You will not see Claver or Crabbe unless there are injuries.

Despite my avatar, I'm totally okay with that.

I disagree. I think he had as many bad plays last night as good. Poor shit selection wasn't mentioned once .

Do you pick out your shit from a shit buffet?

Remember TRob has been hampered by recovering from injury. But yes, he seems to be out of the rotation for now. Sucks that our two most exciting players, Will and TRob, still haven't worked out how to play. Still, we'll always have this:

Just because he missed them doesn't man they were bad shits. He wasn't forcing his shits. He was open and all his shits came within the flow of the offense.

Hopefully some day he'll be able to take the big shits when he has to.

For those of you who may be nursing an index finger injury, here is the money quote:

In his mind, he showed something. Now, it’s all up to Blazers coach Terry Stotts.

Phew, that was worth waiting for. ;)

Seriously, hit the link and check the Meyers interview if you haven't. It's a quick glimpse into what he's thinking and how he's approaching things. He's getting there.

Meyers basically echoed what Kaman said about him. That alone says he's coachable and understands the hurdles he needs to clear to advance and be an asset to the team. I think both Freeland and Leonard have benefited from practicing against Rolo and Kaman instead of each other

Especially Kamen, because if you scrimmage against him every day you have to learn to defend or he'll score on you every time. (JJ Hickson principle)

He didn't take the typical road in terms of development and still has a lot to learn but his jumper is pure and has a great feel passing the ball.

I see a bigger Mehmet Okur.

Leonard and Robinson are the only guys on the team that know how to make a proper outlet pass. Last season I saw them both grab rebounds and throw an outlet pass within 2 seconds - it was beautiful. I think we might see a bit more of it with Kaman on the team.

Really am rooting for Meyers - a good story, seems like a good kid, and although currently still very flawed, there's definitely potential there.

I wrote Leonard off after last season. I was wrong.

Stotts is doing something Nate was completely incapable of in allowing a player to play to his strengths. Remember how he forced Frye to play C and made him bang down low, while ignoring his ability to set strong picks and pop out for shots? He was able to harness that strength even more in PHX.

If Leonard can become a mini-Frye for us, that is a HUGE piece off the bench.

Frye has averaged 10/5 in 24 MPG in his career, so we are hoping for 7/3 in 24 MPG as a mini Frye?

FYI, Luke Babbitt is 8/5 in 24 MPG for his career

Were you completely wrong?

Not really a fair comparison. I don't think Leonard has ever played 24 minutes in a game. Frye was a starter in Phoenix. Leonard's rookie season got the most minutes and we were tanking that year

I'm not the one who said he was hoping Leonar_ could become a mini Frye.

Considering I thought he'd be out of the league at the end of his contract, a mini-Frye seems pretty decent.

"Freeland is just sorta there"......doing the dirty work. Don't we need a hustle player in the game down low when Robin is on the bench? But I guess it comes down to who plays better with Kaman: TRob, Joel, or Meyers. Hell maybe you are right and the answer is LeonarO. The one with the best range who can stay out of Kaman's way.......

I still would choose Joel though. At least at first.
