Meyers Leonard (Shoulder) Likely Out A Minimum Of 4-6 Weeks

I heard 4 to 6 weeks, but I think it has a lot to do with pain tolerance

The 4-6 was by a doctor that did not evaluate Meyers firsthand. I read somewhere that he's just doing exercises and the team doesn't really want to give a definitive timeline because they don't know. Just wanted to know if there was an update somewhere.

If we didn't have two upcoming games against LAL I could see us going winless until his return. As it is, I think we win fewer than 5 games before the new year, and just to be on the safe side I'd wait until January to bring Meyers back.

Does anyone read John Schuman's power rankings on NBA.com? The dude has Boston at 6 and Indy at 7.... Like.... is he even trying...?
I think his analysis of Portland is accurate. But he does seem to be too willing to move teams based off of a weeks performance. Detroit should not have fallen to 15th. Boston is a playoff team in the east so I can actually understand him putting them at 6 right now.

Portland (4-7)
Pace: 98.5 (19) OffRtg: 103.9 (6) DefRtg: 105.3 (26) NetRtg: -1.4 (20)
The Blazers have had a fourth-quarter lead in three of their last five games, but they've lost all five. They held their first five opponents of the season under a point per possession, but have allowed the last six to score 113.5 per 100. Allen Crabbe (12.0 points per game on 63 percent shooting in his last six games) has shows signs of being another consistent backcourt contributor, but this team can't stay afloat if it doesn't get stops.
This week: @ SAS, @ HOU, vs. LAC, @ LAL

They may make the playoffs, Indiana may too, but their rosters are not talented enough to be among the top 10 teams. Brilliant coaches make sub-par teams good ones, but eventually talent will have it's say, and Indiana is the only one of the two (barring significant improvement form Marcus Smart, whose a baller) who has elite offensive weapons to compliment it's evolving D. Celtics D does look legit though

Also our offense hasn't been the problem thus far this season, it's been breakdowns on D, mostly on Meyers, Plumlee and CJ (his aren't as bad), and Kaman will help a lot with our interior team D when he plays. Davis and now Alexander look like quality backups, and Vonleh still is 20 and talented as they come. I think our team will come together as the season goes along, but we have a brutal schedule over the next couple weeks.

So ya, he got that more or less right on

Figured I'd put this in this thread where it makes more sense:

With Meyers down it's going to be much more difficult for this team to win. A large contingent will laugh at that statement, but I believe it to be true. Even when Meyers wasn't hitting his shots he was an important part of our offense. And in the last few games before his injury he was starting to hit his shots again. Now that we lack an outside threat to pull pressure off Dame/CJ it's going to be tougher on EVERYONE.
#blessingindisguise
So far we're shooting ~3% worse without Meyers, AND giving up ~3% on the defensive end. A -6% swing without Meyers.

The spacing is NONEXISTENT with two bigs out there.

Davis/Kaman
Kaman/Plumlee
Vonleh/Davis
Vonleh/Plumlee

These lineups - they just don't work. Dame and CJ have literally no room to operate without Leonard.

Don't you have to look at us playing a much more difficult schedule since he's been out and factor that in some how?

I could see this making sense if we played Minny/Utah/Denver again, but we have played Memphis/San Antonio.....much better teams.

We played MEM both with and without Meyers. DEN actually has the 2nd best FG% against us so far this season. UTH was suppose to be a good team this year.
Sure, it's a small sample size, and the opposition isn't always the same. But it's a trend...we'l see how it continues to play out over the next 5 weeks.

I don't know how you could watch the games and say that the lack of spacing is not an issue. I mean, you could replace Meyers with Channing Frye right now and get about the same effect but the point still stands.

Man, Meyers wasn't making enough shots to spread the floor. The reason we are losing is not because of his absence alone.

He spreads the floor, he doesn't need to make all his shots. His presence opens up the floor for driving lanes. I don't know how many time Dame or CJ have driven into traffic because one of bigs is always in the paint and the other can't move beyond foul line extended. It's too easy to guard. I'm not saying we win all our games with Meyers, I'm just saying his absence is clearly a big reason we look so disoriented the last few games

Even when he wasn't making shots he was still being guarded more honestly than LMA ever was - because he's actually a threat to make you pay for leaving him open on the perimeter.

I gotta admit, it sure seems like Dame especially and also CJ have been getting STUFFED more often than before Meyers got hurt, especially late in games.

I don't have numbers on it but it seemed as if our offense seemed to stall during the end of the 1st-beginning of the 2nd quarter, even before Meyers was injured. Originally I thought it was just because it was CJ running the point (and part of it still is), but another thing it co-incides with is that this is usually when Meyers is getting his rest. One point guard + 2 non shooters = catastrophe in Stott's offense. It just ends up being a lot of passing around the perimeter before going 1 on 1.

WHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!??!??!?! You are saying is MEYERS is guarded more honestly than LA because MEYERS is actually more of a threat than LA!!!????? What the fuck is that? You honestly believe what you just typed!!?? Your post needs its own thread!!!!! Do you feel ANYBODY on this green earth agrees with this? HOLY SHIT! I think he means on the perimeter. And yes, Meyers is being guarded further out to the 3 point line than Aldridge. Obviously he isn't targeted as heavily in any other aspect of the defense.

This is a fair and accurate statement if we are talking about the 3pt line. No thread needed. Meyers is more of a threat from three and thus DOES pull the opposing bigs further out than LMA did.
Doesn't mean Meyers is a better player or demands more overall attention.

When it comes to the perimeter, which is what we were talking about...FAMS.
Nobody EVER guarded LMA on the perimeter - unless it's when he was trying to post-up and they pushed his post-up all the way out to 20'. But in every instance of LMA pick/popping BOTH defenders ALWAYS went with Lillard and let LMA shoot. I've seen guys close out on Leonard more than they ever closed out on LMA.

Good to see that at least a couple of people know how to follow a conversation!

English as a second language.

FAMS!

Meyers is awesome on NBA2K16. I just beat the Spurs and he had 47 points 20 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal and 4 blocks. 18/28 from the field 11/18 from 3. In 32 minutes.
