Notice Meyers Leonard underwent shoulder surgery in LA today and will be out 6-8 mos

As much as I'm over Leonard, if we can get him for a couple more years at 7 million or so, do we do it? Probably.

6 to 8? Holy crap. Out until December.

6-8 months? wow..... for a surgery to fix dislocations? Again.. .wow...

Wish the best for him personally. Hope he is on a different roster next year though. It's been so awesome watching Harkless starting and Ed Davis paired with other guys off the bench.

I think he should go to a team with great defensive guards who can't shoot. Orlando or Milwaukee would be good.

Speedy recovery! Hope he comes back new and improved! He's young enough to heal fast...here's hopin' he does!

What are the chances he takes the QO to be an UFA the year after?

That was my reaction. Seems excessive for a dislocation.
I would suspect it has a tear and they need to remove bone spurs or debris from the joint. Seems to me a tear would require that long if repaired..something is causing it to dislocate easily..probably need to rehab the muscle around the shoulder to support the repair..most of the time would be rehab for strengthening I'd think

He bet on himself once; didn't win.

Double down?
In my opinion if his price drops considerably, he does win because he stays a Blazer at least for a while longer. Give him a chance to build his value again. He wouldn't lose much to sign a one year qualifying offer here,,(riverman gets booed out of the forum in one...two..three...)

I think it's a lock that he takes the QO.

Unless Neil offers him the same contract that Meyers turned down last summer.

Is the recovery time for Meyers a minimum of 6-8 month seem pretty quick. I've known athletes in other sports who have similar surgeries and 6-8 seems pretty fast.

Depends on how deep the tear was...surface tears heal quicker

Either way its enough to have a significant impact on his next season. It's not as if he's an experienced proven vet who is fully developed. We saw with the Blazers how beneficial it was having all the guys working out and playing together over the summer. Meyers needs to make improvements with his game and he won't get any of that for at least half a year.

Yeah. It's a significant injury. I've known baseball players who get torn pectorals and are never the same players.

Only problem with him signing the one year qualifying offer; he would get a no trade clause. If we trade him his new team wouldn't get his bird rights, so thats why he gets the clause. Its effectively makes players un-tradeable; as players always want bird rights even if they are going to leave. Bird rights help players negotiate better contracts with an old team or as leverage for a new team.
