Meyers putting in work! (1 Viewer)

I'll try to find it, but after one of the wins a few years back the Blazers' jumbotron closed-caption just stated "SHKRA EURPL". Some (genius) one placed it into this .gif in order to show Meyers getting pumped up for wins. I used it once in a Forensic Fan.

Personally I love seeing it....trade value is a good thing...I think he knows now he'll be pushed out of the 4 position and have to compete for the 5....he also knows he's going to practice against Nurk......he'll need to be in shape to survive that....what he's really preparing for is the Knicks media and fanbase....

Meyers dribbling around an actual person, "Boo, he's a bun!"

*Man bun

I mean look at this picture. LOOK AT IT !
You just SEE the fucker is ready to close his fucking eyes and turn his head away.
God dammit that's a stupid face. I can't even see picture of the guy without having anger outburst anymore

Meyers has a lot to prove and he knows it. I get the impression that he realizes his on court performance has been a big disappointment to everyone. Only way to fix that is to work his butt off during the off-season to improve. We shouldnt be hating on him for that, we should appreciate it. Bad choice of workout video to post on social media, yes. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I'll bet he's working much harder this off-season than Crabbe, Turner, and Aminu. I dont see them as having that drive/determination to be the best they can. That concerns me.

Get the hell outta here, this is literally based off nothing.

Exactly. It was my opinion which I made obvious in my post. I havent seen any major improvement in any of them during their careers to make me think otherwise.

OK, that's fine, but why do you bet that? Just because MyLe likes to post PR vids of his summer workouts, doesn't mean that everybody else in the league isn't working their collective asses off (without a camera tracking their every move).

Frankly, I'm always dubious of public displays of 'putting in work.' Give me the guy who unplugs and toils away in silence any day of the week. My first reaction when I watched the video is that Meyers puts on a good show, but that's all this is; a set-piece for video (same goes for Nurkic dribbling around chairs).

1) Some people have a weird idea that NBA players "take it easy" in the offseason - for the most part, they don't.
2) Meyers is sweating like crazy - he's putting in work!
3) Yes, the move he's doing is dumb, but it's probably after he's taken 300 jump shots and his coach wants to remind him that he needs to be more than a shooter. So, in Bieb's mind he's showing that he's not just a shooter, he's a beast!

Meyers has the body to be a good NBA player. Any work he is doing to try and get there is something I like. I also do not understand the hate - the guy works, he cares and he tries, that's all we can ask for realistically. He might not make (likely not make it based on history so far) - but at this point, the contract is there, the team's commitment is there - so anything he does to try and get better is good - and working with a trainer that Wes recommended is not a bad idea imho.

The best thing that can happen to the Blazers is for ML to become a good NBA player - either by contributing on the court or being easier to include in a trade package for an upgrade at a position of need. So, go Meyers.

I don't doubt he puts in the work, but he needs to work smarter, not harder. His feel/instincts for the actual game of basketball has almost gotten worse as his career has gone on. I put this on the coaches/trainers more than Leonard. Get this guy scrimmages, every day. This was just a short clip so hopefully they're going to focus on this more this off season, but I sure don't think it's been a focus in the past and that's been a huge mistake.

Amen, Brother. Especially the bolded part.

The bolded part is pretty damn important, doubly so for Meyers. He needs to hire a good basketball trainer who has a clue, and who will make Meyers do what he should do, not what he might think he should do. Hopefully Wes' guy is the right guy for the job.

Several years ago, we had a hard year, but we skrimped and we saved and bought a gold mine. It had a lot of characteristics of mines that have paid off big for others. So, we invested and invested in it, and it's having problems no other mines have. It's not paying off, but still, we try. It's OK, not every mine pays off...

But now, we have TWO OTHER SIMILAR BUT MUCH MORE PROMISING gold mines! If we spend all of our resources (e.g. playing time) on the old mine that will likely not pay off, we're wasting our precious time, and we'll pay with unnecessary loses.

That's the very logical reason for the hate, which for some has moved beyond just making fun of the guy. PT spent on Biebs hurts the development of our 2 rookies, and hurts our chances to win. EVEN if Biebs received ZERO minutes, his presence will create controversy and discord in the team. However, if he receives zero minutes, he'll be harder to trade. So, there's a bit of a conundrum there, which is just more fuel for the fire.

There is no hate for the old mine, just for the idea that the management might waste more resources on it - we're profit sharing, after all....

Here's one. Meyers is very athletic. At least that clip shows him being very aggressive with his athleticism, even if it appears to be in a way that would not be realistic in an NBA game.

I got a better one:

Meyers is putting in SO MUCH work getting his trade value up!

Shhhheeeeeaaat....

That's his fucking JOB. It's what he's PAID to do. A job any one of us would kill for. The LEAST that MF can do is work hard in the off-season. When it's your job to be in shape and to get better at your craft, it's exactly what you do.

I just seen video of Leonard playing defense down in LA and he just don't get it at that end of the court. That right there tells me he don't want it bad enough and he satisfied with the contract he got by the Blazers.

If Portland fans don't encourage a new improved Meyers, then they deserve to lose his value....I'm cheering for him to be a 10 million dollar bidding war dude come late Jan...go Meyers!!! Impress the Magic or the Kings! By then Collins and Swanigan will know the playbook and Ed already does!

Okay, Okay... I'll enco--

Nah.

I don't think it's a question of wanting it, it's a question of having the ability and the instincts on the court that should be like second nature to him by now. He doesn't.

Watch the video again. No one was playing defense. What was the point of this "scrimmage"? But, yes, Biebs was particularly bad.

Leonard is the difference between an athlete playing basketball and a pure basketball player like Swanigan.
