What's funnier and creepier is that 2 days prior to this, the state department lifted its travel warning about racism in Spain.....

Fox News reports that the State Department had issued a travel warning on its site stating that "racist prejudices could lead to the arrest of Afro-Americans who travel to Spain." But the warning was removed from the site on Monday, two days before Michelle left for Spain.

In an Op-Ed on Thursday, New York Daily News writer Andrea Tantaros compared Michelle Obama to a "modern day Marie Antoinette" for taking such a costly vacation when so much of the country is suffering to make ends meet. It doesn't help that Michelle, Sasha and their entourage is staying at the Hotel Villa Padierna, a Ritz-Carlton hotel with rates from $500 to $2,500 a night.

Personally, I have no beef with her going on vacation. In fact, she should have taken hubby with, and all of congress, too. It'd be way cheaper paying 250K pounds a week to put them all up somewhere than letting them spend as they do from the treasury. Hell it'd be cheaper to send them off for $1B/day.

On the one hand I really don't care. On the other hand, this type of thing is smack in the face against what they preach. It just proves out that the Obamas say one thing and do another. But that's not too odd for people in high political office- being liars and having contempt for those they perceive as beneath them- in this case the American people.

Well, Obama did talk down Vegas as some sort of excess. I can see how some people see it as "do as I say, not as I do." Or anther case of being tone deaf to what "regular" people can't do these days, on his watch.

Poppycock. Most "regular" people I know could vacation in Spain if they desired. Most could stay in that hotel if they desired. All past first ladies have had similar expenses, and most world leaders and their families routinely do the same. There's nothing here to see, other than a difference in skin color.

For the record, E250,000 is roughly equal to almost $330,000.
