Microfracture for Oden

So, because Greg Oden's "employee" status ends when the Blazers get eliminated in April (unless they somehow reach the end of the second round), then none of our medical staff will be legally allowed to work with Oden. Oden will then be on his own rehabbing until his has a new and "approved by the league" contract.

Well, it's not like Oden doesn't know the routine.

Jensen said he's been tested for it and it's off the charts. When they put the hardware in for the patella they had a hell of a time putting it in because his patella was so hard.

Maybe they hit the wrong spot and that's why he's having another microfracture surgery now.

So he injured himself in practice or getting up off the coach? How can anyone believe this bum is capable of having an NBA career? I'd offer him a 6 year 12 million dollar contract, just in case his body ever get's is act together.

What would suck even worse, is if he goes on to be a star for another team. But anyway, this is like watching the final turd being flushed down the toilet. Our hopes of a championship, let alone a dynasty, seem really foolish now.

This is piled on top of the Roy situation. When Miller and Camby retire, this team will be a lottery team, but we won't be able to get any free agents with Brandon Roy's contract hampering us.

I feel like we're back to the Zach Randolph days....

Not even close, we were winners with Zach.

Maybe we could trade Greg and Brandon for Zach?

Zach would actually be better on the team than Roy and Oden right now. That's pretty sad.

cnn.com has it listed as "Blazers Odom out again for season".

This about sums up the night....

I could be wrong but I think contracts go thru June 30.

I tried to look back and find where I said it, but I told some of you that Oden is to injury prone and won't do anything. I can't find it cause there is like 104932084 threads. Though, I did say it and will keep looking to prove a point.

It sucks to lose a number 1 pick, the one on my team isn't any better. But I know some of you think Oden is the massiah. He isn't nor will he ever be a legitimate NBA player.

Proof is in the pudding.

No shit. Thanks for your incredible insight.

Rich Cho looks like a Kung Fu master. He looks like he could just jump up and chop Jay Jenson's head off with a Katana.

this is the worst post in the history of anything

you should be ashamed

I would be, except that this post I'm making now is even worse!
When will it stop?

- Oden's an expiring $7 million contract, and you can't wag a finger at that
- Przybilla is another expiring $7 million contract
- Andre Miller is another expiring $7 million contract (team option on another year after this one)

That's a crapload of capital. I am more than sure we could move Roy, even with his contract, if we used these three pieces to find a solid player.

Plus, there are tons of contending teams who would LOVE Camby's services.

We seriously need to be rebuilding. Now. We should be looking at a window with Batum, LA, Matthews, and Johnson. We need to move the pieces we can and upgrade what we can for REALLY GOOD players or REALLY GOOD picks.

This is not the time for the Blazers to sit on their hands.

Interestingly, the Blazers with a hobbled star and their best potential star gone for the year, will still kick the snot bubbles out of the sad sack Raptors.

Get well soon Greg. So sorry dude.

Go Blazers

Very sad for all of us.

Very very sad for Oden.

I'm not giving up on him just yet. This year? He's clearly out. But he's still a young man and there's still a pretty good chance that he'll turn out to be a special player.

We just will have had to wait a LONG time to see it. :(

Oden's still our best chance for NBA greatness. Gambling on him is still better than rebuilding with our current assets. It gets sadder and sadder everytime I say it.

I think after this surgery, you can go ahead and stop saying it.

Yes and yes and yes :(

Why? Which Blazer gives us a better chance for NBA greatness?

And lots of players have rebounded from microfracture surgery. Not to two knees, of course, but I don't see why it would be different here unless there is just something congenitally wrong with Oden that no one has picked up on.

I am not a doctor, but I am close to a man who is one. He also happens to be a Blazer fan.

His very informal diagnosis is that "Oden is fucked. He seems to have something genetically wrong with him, maybe a touch of gigantism or something, and it shows in his face. It may be hard to tell exactly what he has, but you can pretty sure these injuries aren't coincidental."

This is not an exact quote, but even the densest of homer-fans can't deny that Oden is fragile.

He's not meant for the NBA, unfortunately.

we don't really have tradeable assets to get us players enough to make us a top team though.

Miller + Przy + Oden = $21 million in expirings.

Some contending team (read: Boston) would LOVE camby

We need to shop everyone except Batum, Wes, LA and Johnson (and maybe even LA if we get a good return) and blow the team up. We CANNOT be a middling team and expect to get better. We need to start over with great players or great picks.

Truly feel sorry for the kid

That said...I quote Adam Sandler--"F*** me in dee goat ass!

That was almost the exact words of Greg Anthony tonight. He said that there is absolutely "zero" hope that the Raptors could do anything to turn their miserable existence of a franchise around.

Specific targets please. I think packaging Batum + expiring can really help us out. I wonder if Andre Miller + Rudy + picks can get Devin Harris from the nets.

I am not a GM. I don't know who or what is realistically on the table. But in my mind, it really is as wide open as this:

Virtually the WHOLE ROSTER is available, and we need to get pieces to build around a few promising players. The Blazers absolutely cannot expect to compete without Oden and Roy, and I am assuming that Roy's days as an All-Star are done. So what does that leave us with? Not nearly enough. We got Camby and Miller, and fuck if they wouldn't have been enough to make us very close to contenders if we had a completely 100% Brandon Roy and a 90% or better Greg Oden.

Since that won't happen, we need to start afresh instead of remaining a tweener team with no hope to help itself in the draft. Trade our expirings THIS YEAR and turn them into something good. That's my logic.

Without a superstar on the team, no rings. Sure, Detroit did it...but really. We need a top tier player and that's not happening. You absolutely need a superstar to win a ring or hell, even make the conference finals. With Roy wobbly and Aldridge kind of meh....and in big contracts, you're not going to get superstars that will compete in the finals. You can have a pretty "threatening" team....that may be dangerous in the playoffs...but that's it.

We should trade Miller, JP and Pryzbilla to fill out our roster. Deal with the Oden situation when it presents itself. Its not going to be overly expensive and even though, it could be a short contract. Might as well, we're too dialed in.
