Man todays a Friday, the day after a summer holiday, I'm hungover, and free agency starts in 20 minutes....I can't think of a more mail it in at work day possible

So Chuck, what confuses me this post is that you say how our division will be loaded next year and that you're concerned Sather will not add to the team, which would be a mistake in your opinion, yet your proposed changes are Moore for the 4th line and a 3rd liner for $2M?
 
Its being reported that McDonaghs deal is done, not sure the terms.

Because I don't think the something we need to do needs to be huge. I have said all along we simply need another top 9 winger who can score some goals, and I stand by that. Maybe I will be wrong. Maybe the season starts and we cannot score, and we say yeah we should have added another impact guy. But as of now I do not feel that way.

If we add a nice top 9 winger who can score some goals, I will be happy to start the season and go to battle with that squad. Then keep our eyes open for players that can help throughout the season.
 
One other thing. I think this conversation is becoming a moot point. To me it seems pretty clear we won't be adding a big piece this summer. So to pound it to death between us is kind of pointless now. I am sure they will add some lesser solid pieces (a Moore type and maybe a winger that can score some goals for the top 9) and away we go. We'll see if that is enough.
 
Flyers get Emery for 1.65 mill. We'll see how an Emery/Mason tandem does for them in goal. I think they have to deal someone to get under the cap. Unless they can get Pronger's whole deal off the cap. They may be 3 to 3.5 mill over right now.

Look at our division. Outside of the Devs, that division is loaded. Unreal. Every team is good. Detroit adding good players. Philly has issues on D and in goal, but they have a very good team still, and will score a lot. Division is crazy good. We better add another scorer.
 
a 3rd liner is not a scorer by definition.
 
I am done with this 31. I have said I wanted a 20 or so goal guy from the start. That is what I would like to see us do. From there you can throw in your usual little 31 digs. It is what you like to do. All good.

Bozak to the Leafs 5 years 21 mill. Sounds like the Leafs in lead for Clarkson as well. 7 year deal. Maybe around 6 mill per.

Crazy stuff. So much money thrown around. That part may be good that we aren't involved in the nonsense.
 
Sounds like Clarkson to the Leafs is done. That is a heck of a team now also. Bozak. Clarkson. Bernier. Bolland. All those guys added. Good team.

The East is really tough. For my money much better than the West right now outside of 2 or 3 teams.
