Did anyone catch the comment he made about if Paul Pierce were to bring a knife onto the court and stab someone, he would still think he did nothing wrong? I found this very disturbing and a very poor choice of words being as I believe Paul was stabbed in real life.

Seriously? I don't care.

He also did not even say the word stab.

Relax president of the Paul Pierce Fan club. MB would never say something like that on purpose or to disrespect him. Email him and tell him how you feel.

I was watching the Celtics' broadcast, but that is really disturbing. He obviously knew about PP's history, and made a light of something that was very serious.

Not cool. MB already seemed like a mediocre announcer with an irritating voice to me. He just went down another notch with this.

So you think MB purposly wet out to say this?

If he actually said something about stabbing with knives and referenced Pierce, yes, I do.

But I didn't watch the Blazers broadcast, so I can't confirm if he said these things.

I know the man very well, and there is no way in hell he would puprosely crack on somebody like that. Your feelings of him aside, you know that's true.

My feelings for him? I think he's a shitty announcer. Lot's of Blazer fans do.

And I don't really know what's true, but if he said all that in context to Pierce, he crossed the line.

Mike is actually very good at what he does. My gripe is his sugar coating losses or team turmoil.

He's the Bob Ross of commentating, he wouldn't viciously go at any opposing player like that.

I watched the game but didn't catch that line, so I dunno what he said.

I think that the complaining about the refs is a bit much, but I'd be shocked (not even knowing him, but just based on how I perceive him) if he would purposefully reference Paul's stabbing, but if he's going to be complaining about the refs and how every other player in the NBA, seemingly, works the refs (but rarely seems to mention Roy screaming "HEY!" every time he goes into the lane) then he should choose his words more wisely to avoid that sort of flub.

"Paul Pierce could pull out a knife and use it and still think he did nothing wrong." I'm pretty sure that was the quote.

I think we're being a little overly sensitive for the sake of Paul Pierce... I can understand being offended, but being offended for someone else?

Ouch. Poor choice of words even if Paul didn't have the history of being stabbed. MB's a cool guy though and I think he's a great announcer.

Never mind. I take back my comments. That's not really that offensive.

It's not really funny, either, and I think he probably intended for it to be.

Its a team plane thing, you common fan wouldn't get it.

*que country club laugh*

He's a good announcer and fairly knowledgeable. I think people are intentionally making way too much out of this.

The bottom line is that MB's point is correct. Pierce (and his coach) never thinks he fouls anyone, ever!... same as Kobe. Annoys the hell out of me.

I caught it and thought it was a bit tasteless but I just assumed MB forgot about that incident.

I honestly can't imagine MB saying something like that intensionally.

Unlike, say, the fucking asshats that announce games for the Celtics.
Fuck Tommy Heinishon (or however you spell that worthless fucks name).

We showed heart last night. I was encouraged.

Not an MB fan either, but getting up in arms over him using the word knife is silly.

Would you have preferred he used gun?

In a semi-related question, how is it that the volume and pitch of whining created between Tommy Heinsohn and Mike Rice doesn't shatter every piece of glass in the arena?

I would. I don't think that Pierce has ever been shot.

Well, he could have a friend that got shot. Or it could have been taken as a racial slam, saying that black people shoot people and think nothing is wrong with it.

His intent was just to show Pierce never thinks he commits a foul. As HCP said, email Barrett if you truly are offended by his use of the word knife. I am sure he would apologize and not do it again.

Somebody listens to Mike Barrett? Hell I always turn the sound off and put on some agressive music to listen to while watching the game!

Perhaps.

But we KNOW Pierce was stabbed. No need to speak in hypotheticals there.

I'm not going to take any time to email the man any more than I'm going to take the time to email Cho to let him know that he shouldn't have traded Bayless or email Nate about his slow-paced teams throughout his career.
