I don't even watch blazer broadcasting games because he annoys me. I much prefer Mike Barrett.
 
I actually think Calabro is one of the best in the biz. I like his interactions with Hurd. My disdain for anything Sonics died off like almost 20 years ago when the Sonics actually existed.

Damn I remember when those George Karl teams used to spank us. Even when we were really good, it always seemed like those Sonics teams blew us out.

Anybody that supports or promotes hate…. No room in my life for that. My mom, or a stranger on the street…. No time for that.
 
Said it before. I have friends with whom I disagree in some issue but I can never be friends with someone who considers me a lesser being unworthy of basic civil and human rights. Friendship has to be between equals.

Good point, yeah the see you on the plane line was stupid, not professional.

I do wish the excitement Mike and Mike had though... wish there was some way they could come back on courtside. Maybe Blazers Uprise should try to get some specials with them.

Barrett doesn't watch the Blazers anymore and only talks about them now to trash them. Rice's analysis has seen better days. Would be fun to have them both on together though!
 
I always thought Mike and Mike were amateurish and felt like a minor league baseball broadcast team. I prefer Calabro and Hurd to them.

I would really love it if we had a young play by play announcer who was really dynamic and I wouldn't give a shit about his or her connection to the area... just a dynamic professional. I would also love to have a Blazers vet as our analyst/color commentator; Blazers anecdotes and real NBA experience would go a long way for me... obviously some Xs and Os and charisma would be a prerequisite.

Ya, I know. I wasn't a big fan of Schonely either. They sour grapes he had towards Wheels turned me off. Climb the golden ladder was the worst too.

I assumed Calabro decided to copy that to win some Blazer fans and I wouldn't know because I refuse to watch him. I imagined him saying it and wanted to puke.

I did look up some other things he said for the Sonics and it makes me want to punch myself in the nads.

  • “Flyin’ chickens in the barnyard.”
  • “Get on your magic carpet and ride.”

Nah I actually think all these guys are respectful of what the previous guys had used. It would be really interesting to hear @Travis Demers take on his approach to this, but I'm guessing you won't hear "BOOMSHAKALAKA" or Wheels' famous "stunned, stupefied, and shocked" or whatever he'd do. Travis is already using his own stuff. Gotta be hard to come up with original things though. Wheels didn't invent boomshakalaka but I don't think that phrase was really tied to any one guy.

It cracks me up when I see Blazers fans say something like this. You don't watch the team play because you don't like the freakin' guy calling the game? That's like saying you're not going out to a great restaurant because you don't like the lady at the reception desk. Man, turn down the sound or listen to the radio call.

I watch other teams call of the game, or national broadcasts if available or the radio.
 
Hell, I usually watch most games with the TV muted. The opposing team's announcers are worse. They just repeat everything recently said in the media about our team. So you end up hearing the same narrative over and over and over during a road trp

I liked Rice but much like Walton, only in small doses. I find that the score of the game is the biggest indicator of how much the announcers are bugging me. If we are losing....the TV gets muted. If we are up big then I am not as annoyed. Similar to coming to this board when we are up or down.

People didn't like Jordan Kent but I could listen to him and not want to punch myself in the nads.

Last night, three times, cat fights outside my window. Im going to hook up my hose leave it on, and if they are back tonight I'll hit em good with jet nozzle. If that doesnt work I might have to bring out my pellet gun.
 
Schonz was radio. (yes I know he did TV but he's a radio announcer.) Radio requires much more descriptive language. Wheels and Schonz painted a picture with their words so fans can "see" the game. TV announcers don't need to be as descriptive because we can already see what's going on.
