I like how the author goes out of the way to not call out Miller on his "no one can sign until July 8, so we hope to have someone by July 8" thing. B/c while LBJ, Johnson, Wade, Bosh, and every other FA under the sun is being wined and dined by the likes of Donnie Walsh, Pat Riley, Jerry Reinsdorf...we're sending our "top scouts" No offense to Mike and Chad, but would that look like you're getting the Royal Treatment?

I was using this quote:Did he say that an dI missed it in the interview?
Also, do you think there is a huge priority set by our front office on contacting Lebron or Joen Johnson orWade on July 1st? Sounds like a giant waste of time to me.
So you don't think that there are any free agents that we'd like to have, and if there were, they'd be happy having our "top scouts" come visit?Free agency opens on Thursday, and the first day teams can sign players is July 8. Miller said he doubts the team will have a hire by July 1, but is hoping it can be finalized by July 8.
"There is definitely a sense of urgency – we want to get it done as soon as possible," Miller said. "But we want to make sure we don't make a mistake."
While he conducts the search, Miller said top scouts Chad Buchanan and Mike Born and scout Joe Cronin will handle free agent recruitment and trade strategy, reporting to Miller and coach Nate McMillan.

As opposed to what? I really hope our management and front office doesn't have that attitude because it is their job to exhaust all possibilities, even if the chances are remote. That's a horrible attitude to have about the free agent class. I would hope our front office puts the effort into acquiring one of these guys, regardless of the chances.
"I get to the Practice Facility, I got there at 12:30 or 1 o'clock. Kevin pulls me aside and said, "Hey, Paul and I had a conversation and we kind of agreed that we're going to part ways. I want to still do the draft, we're going to get through the draft and then you and I can sit down tomorrow and figure out what the process is."
"Later, Paul pulls me aside and kind of says the same thing. Like, "Hey, I got here. Kevin approached me, things seem to be where they are, things haven't been good, let's talk about how we're going to resolve this." And I guess they sat down, the two of them had a conversation. Coming out of that conversation was an agreement. It looks like it's time to part ways. But Kevin wanted to continue to do the draft. Paul wanted Kevin to continue to do the draft. So they agreed that they would do the draft and on Friday he and I would sit down and figure out the next steps.
"So that's what I was told. That's what I was thinking. We're still waiting for the draft to start... so I walk outside to get some fresh air. I walk outside and I see one of the security guys out there and we're kind of shooting the breeze, talking about the nice weather, and he says, "I just heard on Courtside that Kevin Pritchard [just got fired]..."
And then I look at my phone and it starts to blow up."
maybe he should ask the security guards what to do.
what a fucking dolt.

So Larry Miller was supposed to know someone would leak the info? IF that's close to accurate, it sounds very reasonable

Well, he'd see who we signed before the gm came here, and if he liked the signing, no problem, if not, wouldn't come. No cluster fuck or clown town at all.Plus, what if the new GM doesn't like the free agent or trade that the scouts like? He gets hired on to a new contract that he had no part in deciding?
Clown Town.

What a disaster.
Making a list of qualities to look for in GM instead of actively pursuing trades and free agents. Why the fuck wouldn't they do this before trashing KP? What the fuck did that "head-hunting" firm do?
Clown Town.
Like last time, they came back with the name "Steve Patterson".
Out of curiosity, is this your speculation, or was it on one of the podcasts I didn't listen to?
What a disaster.

I had heard that the same head-hunters who found Steve Patterson were being used for the last two months. Dwight Jaynes and Kenny Vance were talking about it last week on The Game..
I believe Kenny came back later and said that wasn't the case....that he had been mistaken.
Shouldn't have surprised me.BTW, what was the President of the team doing arriving at work on draft day around lunch time?

I was wondering how many would catch that.Shouldn't have surprised me.
I doubt the President only works at the practice facility... I mean, seriously?
