By that I mean is he going to become the new "cult" favorite amongst Blazermaniacs?

I can hardly wait for the endless stream of debates about why he doesn't get more minutes than Bayless or Blake (Hinrich?) next season :banghead:

Mills was a pretty good pick imo. Pendergraph too.

I don't disagree ... but I can already see how this could shake out; for some reason there seems to be a segment of the fan base that loves foreign players no matter what and and another segment that hates them no matter what then everybody else who is more sensible.

I can see where you're coming from.

Obviously you know my feeling about Mills.

I'm not even going to pretend to be anything approaching fair or balanced.

I'm 100% biased towards Mills.

We may not bring him over, and instead ask him to play in Europe.

If he does suit up, he will definitely be our 3rd PG behind Bayless.

He'll get similar minutes to Bayless last season I would think.

Indeed, the same people who believe the Finnish kid is the next Terry Porter will be the ones calling for these losers to get time on the floor.

The chances of any of these guys even making the team is small, much less being impact players next year.

I have no freaking clue. He can score - which is something Sergio never could. If he can develop another consistent talent - he is an upgrade.

"I've never heard of these players so I assume they suck."

Perhaps he's the next Tony Parker? I like what I've seen (interviews, videos, etc.). Summer league will tell. Far better selection than Green from a couple years back!

Nash/Bayless/Mills ?
Blake/Mills/Bayless?

I think we'd better get some vet leadership at the 3. Not too high on Turk - but he's probably our best fit.

Nash / Mills / Bayless
Roy / Rudy
Turk / Batum / Webster
LA / Cunningham / VET?
Oden / Pryz / Randolph

That starting lineup looks sweet. So would the rotations. I'm thinking Mills may be a surprise!

Mills is the new Bayless. He's a too-short SG. We lost the only decent passer on the team.

So no, Mills is NOT the new Sergio.

Koponen is! Bring him over now!

"I've never heard of these players so I assume they suck."

No, more along the lines of "The chances for second round players for any team at any time to make an impact is very small. The same is true to a lesser extent for players picked in the 20's."

You really shouldn't assume that I haven't seen any of these guys play.

Do you really think anyone of these guys will have an impact on the team next year?

I think the Pac 10 puts out some pretty good PG's, so I have seen quite a few tear it up against my Ducks. And Mills' 37 in 2007 in his 4th game was right up there.

"I've never heard of these players so I assume they suck."

i never heard of Batum either, yet he started nearly the :wub:whole year for a 54 win team. Maybe Mills wil do the same?

Again i bring up Batum. Did you think he would have an impact on the team this past season?

When did Sergio become a good passer? Did I miss something? He's a great alley-oop passer, but we ain't the Globetrotters. Dribble into a crowd and send a hard pass to someone who is aruably not open and not in a good position to get the ball or take a shot. On the fast break, I guess I'd say he was a decent passer, but not in the half court.

Let's have Sabonis come back and play PG. I loved the way that his passes hit the runner in stride, perfect position to make the easy shot. He made things looks so easy.

I like Mills! My worry is, Dickie-V is so high on him. And people Dickie-V like a lot, usually don't pan out lol

But I have high hopes for him. It isn't like Bayless, where we wanted him to play backup and he was 3rd string. Mills is for sure a 3rd stringer. I kind of also get a Taurean Green feeling from him. But again, he is a 3rd stringer right now, as where we need him to be.

Perfect pick at 55.

Have many of you seen him play?

He is certainly not a SG in a PG body and he is without a doubt the best passer on your roster. In some early mock drafts he was projected as high as 15. His size is certainly a legitimate issue but I'd be shocked if he doesn't make your roster. I think there's even a good chance he makes Bayless play some backup 2 and takes a good portion of the backup PG minutes.

I don't like youtube highlights because they can make anyone look good but if you can, go back and watch some of his regular season or NIT games. He made some very bad St Mary's players look very good. It's a shame they got robbed of an NCAA bid so he couldn't show what he can do.

I saw him play in that game against the redeem team. He can score and he's a good defender. I think he'll exceed people's expectations

I would guess he became a good passer at about age 12.

If you didn't/don't recognize him as a good passer, then you definitely missed something. He might be a great passer. That doesn't mean he's a great (or even good) player, but he's a good passer. His assist percentage as a rookie was amazing, and he led the team in assist percentage last year by a large margin.

It's probably the cute accent...

The Rockets got China. We've tapped into the Spanish market... why not one up them and get the Australians behind us too?

He is a great passer in the open court, but I wouldn't say great at all in the half-court.

Great passers are great in both categories, Rodriguez is not IMO.

Mills reminds me of another high scoring, turnover prone, undersized former WCC guard - Pooh Jeter. Very similar size and very similar stats.

Dickie-V did rate Jameer Nelson a lot higher than Sebastian Telfair the year those two were drafted.

Kevin Pelton's comparison stats for Mills were very similar Jay Williams (94.5%); Daniel Gibson (94.4%); Maurice Williams (94.0%); O.J. Mayo (93.8%); and Ben Gordon (93.8%).

I still like the comparison of a worse-shooting Aaron Brooks. And shooting can always improve. The more I learn about Mills the more I like. He's not Taureen Green.

Vitale automatically placed college players above prep-to-pro players. There's no actual "analysis" going on there, even if he happened to end up on the right answer.
