You're talking about Stockholm Syndrome, and they generally don't defend the institution of kidnapping as a whole.

Yes, it sounds like he was. And he's going a step farther than defending the guy who sexually abused him.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how much more violent the reaction would be if he were straight and was defending the idea of adult men having sex with 13 year-old girls?

He thinks it helped him for some reason. Why is this the first time a liberal doesn't defend someone for having been a victim?

One million times more of an outrage. As someone who remembers having to he careful not to look at car magazines with girls in bikinis in them when I was 14, I understand that I wouldn't have felt like a victim if a 25 year old woman abused me.

I just think we've decided that it is illegal for good reason.

I don't agree that it should be allowed, but just saying it should be doesn't seem like a mortal sin.

Defend in what sense? I certainly have sympathy for any abuse he went through--that doesn't mean I need to, or should, agree with his defense of abuse, especially when he applies it more generally. I also wouldn't agree with a kidnap victim who began to argue that kidnapping isn't really a crime and has plenty of positive aspects.

That is the most irritating thing. He didn't say anything that should cause him to be banished for eternity. I'd have to watch the video again but he didn't seem prepared for that discussion. I still think he wanted to downplay it because he thought it would make him look weak.
