This could be that magical season for Bennett..weirder things have happened

This project might take time away from some other projects that the fans want to see play. That's the problem.

So I guess the down side is
A) He puts back on the weight and is useless to us.
B) He takes minutes away from developing Vonleh
C) The money we spend on him, which we need to do regardless to reach the minimum, could have been spent on another talent out there who may or may not be released by their current team.

None of those 3 scenarios is bad enough to out weigh the possibility of him working out for us. Or at the very least giving us an extra asset to trade next summer. This is pretty much a free asset.

In my Blazer fantasy world he is mobile enough to play SF. But that is a little too much to ask. None-the-less I am all for acquiring assets for........nothing. Worry about playing time next year. This year is all about rebuilding.

You know that the reason projects should play isn't because fans want to see them play, it's so that they'll develop faster, right?

I look forward to seeing this guy in a Blazers uniform.

"I left my game . . . . . in Nevada Las Vegas . . . . "

You know, if we pick up Bennett ... Oden is due for another comeback, and Kwame surely has some mobility left (not so sure about Olowakandi). Bargnani could be had for cheap. Think of the media attention an "all-time bust" team would draw. We'd be must-see TV.

Add Hashim Thabeet to the list as well :)

Add Noah Vonleh, CJ McCollum and Meyers Leonard to that list, along with Mo Harkless.

That is my main concern. There are a lot of players who take time to develop, but not a lot of successes when those players were No. 1 picks. Also, most of the late bloomers were guys who had to grow into their bodies. Bennett doesn't seem like a late bloomer.

But, it is nice to have inside info from Triano et al. What a bargain if we are wrong.

Man this guy sucks if we get him that would be a bummer

From the rumors, it does not sound like Bennett is interested in playing for the Blazers, or Philly, or Cleveland, or Utah, the only four teams that can pick him up off of waivers due to being under the cap or having a trade exemption. Which makes sense since none of them would have minutes for Bennett, so he is not interested in them. Bennett wants to clear waivers to sign with a team of HIS choice.

So, here is another angle. Let say a team (such as the Raptors or the Hawks) wants to sign Bennett as a free agent and can give him the minutes he wants. But they do not have the cap room. The Blazers would be a good option to use to dump a players salary to make room for Bennett.

Of course the team wanting to sign Bennett would need to make it worth while for the Blazers to help out, such adding a draft pick or three.

Its funny how unproven players almost come off as tho they're entitled to play or play on certain teams.

PF: Leonard|Vonleh|Aminu*|Alexander

I don't see why he'd see an opportunity here. He's not going to beat out either Myers or Vonleh for P/T.
I agree, I have more hope for Vonleh, who seems to be our 3rd string PF at the moment.

No different than these rookies who come on here thinking they can start lame ass threads with no consequences...... this place slid downhill during my sabbatical!
