I'd hate to see this happen but it's a huge opportunity for Monte.

Now, who would replace him? I'd nominate Gary Payton.
 
As much as I'd hate to see it, Monty seems like he deserves a shot at being a head coach.... just not at a dump like Minnesota. Maybe we can get Porter to replace him on staff?
 
Maybe KP can give up a 2nd round pick and convince them to take Nate instead?

I really like that idea. I dont want to lose Monty but Porter would be nice on a lot of levels.

I dont want to see Monty go! From what I've read the players love him. Please Minni, take Dean Demopolis instead!

I like Dean too.. I want them to stay the F away.. unless they want Mike Rice.
 
HELL NO! Monty is a great guy. The players all respect him and he's a terrific coach. I do know that family comes first with him and they like it in P-Town. Hopefully that's enough for him to stick around! Being a head coach is an amazing opportunity, but I have a feeling he wants to stick around and see all his hard work he's put into this squad succeed!
 
The players really seem to like/relate to him, I see him talking to the players going into the games all the time. I'm going to be selfish and hope he doesn't get it but Minny would be smart to hire him.
 
Why does Minny want all our staff?! Jesus! They are trying to be us.
 
I don't want to see Monty OR Dean go anywhere. I want every thing to be perfect and harmonious. Really. I do. Can't we build a wall around Portland and not let any of the talented people that have finally made their way to our fine city EVER leave? Please?

Does GP have any coaching experience? I like the idea of him mentoring Bayless, at least certainly more then Nate doing it :sigh:.
 
Good luck Monty, it would be a great opportunity for you. We'd all be sad to lose an excellent assistant but totally understand that's the cost of having a well run franchise with talented employees.

Porter would be a dream assistant I don't know if he is ready to accept an assistant job though.
 
Monty can go to Minnesota and Nate can get his man Dwayne Casey back.
 
Kahn is supposedly interviewing a ton of people for the position, and my guess is that Mark Jackson finally gets his shot before Monty does.
 
If we lose Monty to Minny, does that mean we would be more willing to trade Outlaw? Since Monty and Travis were so close. I wonder if Monty has any influence on trading Travis.

Travis and Blake to Minny for Rubio.(yuck) I'd still have to do that though
 
You know Monty is real tight with Batum as well. Very close, like an older brother. I believe Monty is responsible for the year Nic had.
