It may be that nobody cares about this, but I found it interesting, and I thought I'd share.
Although the AL isn't completely settled, we basically know which 10 teams will make the playoffs. And the similarities are impressive:
I can only hope that one of the two central division pairings swap places in the standings, giving us a perfect similarity.
Although the AL isn't completely settled, we basically know which 10 teams will make the playoffs. And the similarities are impressive:
- Both East champions are from the Maryland area (Washington and Baltimore);
- Both West champions are from LA (Dodgers and Angels);
- The wildcard teams in each league are the second-place finishers from the west and central;
- Both west division wildcard teams are from the bay area (Giants and A's);
- Each league has a central division wild-card team from Missouri (Cardinals and Royals);
- The other central division playoff team is from a rust-belt city (Pittsburgh and Detroit) and boasts last year's MVP (McCutchen and Cabrera).
I can only hope that one of the two central division pairings swap places in the standings, giving us a perfect similarity.
