Mo Williams suspended tonight

Welcome to our community

With Mo out, we'll hang our offensive hat even more on Wes and Lillard. Time to roll the Wessy Dice one more time!

Well, on the plus side it's a short-handed Knicks team, so I guess we picked a decent night to play without Williams.

LA find $45? Wow. That seems pretty steep. No history of tech OR fighting, no twitter blow ups or racial epithets. Bogut is a jackass. Sweep the elbow.

A game check would have been 200K+ so I think he got off pretty lightly.

For comparison's sake Travis Outlaw was fined 15K for a flagrant 2

if you watch the video closely mo did try to land a short punch, so along with charging bogut, charging the bench etc. not surprising

I believe the term punch means a closed fixated swing. Mo tried to slap him actually.

That's alright. We still have LMA and Wes. That's huge. We won't need Mo as much tonight. I have confidence in Watson!

It's Elementary, my dear Watson!

Was it actually forty five dollars? I've never heard of fines under $5k

Pretty close to how I thought things should be. I'm fine with it. Just glad Aldridge didn't get a game, that was my big worry.

Geez, if you want to fuck another team over in the playoffs, have one of your bench players have a go at the other team's star, send your bench into the scrum and make sure your starters stay out of it.

And WTF did Wesley do to deserve an ejection? All he did was run over and try to break things up.

They deemed that worthy of a T, which was his second T. I kinda thought both were pretty lame, but whatever. I kinda liked that we kicked their ass AFTER losing the guy that was on fire. Had to be a deflating loss for them. Blazers manned up, Warriors cowered.

I get that in relation to a game check, but to your latter point, I'm looking at relative punitive damages. I still don't get why Freeland got a tech.

Glad LA escaped a suspension, but 45K even for a max contract guy is still a lot. That's a nice truck, or a house remodel right there. Even though his record is pretty clean, I think they fined him this much because he is the team captain, and is supposed to be setting the example out there, and he was the biggest name involved in the altercation. It really appears to be the league wanting to send a message about being a role model and accepting the responsibility of being a team captain and a leader, more than anything else.

LMA is making $14 million this year... To pull the old "scale it down" trick:

14,000,000 -> 140,000 (remove two zeroes)
45,000 -> 450 (remove two zeroes)

It's not that much... it's like a speeding ticket to normal people.

Yeah - at least he didn't get a suspension. Certainly deserving of a fine. But given the fact that he went in to escalate the conflict, rather than diffuse it, he could have been suspended. I think his reputation is what kept him from being suspended.

Are you saying it's not that much, or that the fine was proportional to his salary? Or both?

A parking ticket fine for a millionaire is the same for a school teacher. $45k seems steep unless it's based on his salary, like on a sliding scale. I don't know.

I understand the comparison, but in reality, that kind of dumbing down is a logical fallacy. It's like saying a homeless guy losing a dollar is the same as me losing 100 dollars. Nope, that's a cell phone bill for my family, or 3 tanks of gas. That homeless guy lost out on a cheeseburger, or a couple smokes. The homeless man will most certainly cherish $100 more than me, and find it less attainable, and feel as though I live a much more luxurious life because I have $100 to spare, but the value of the money and what you can do with it remains the same. Even though financially, I can say oh, $100 isn't going to make or break me, it's still a chunk of money missing from my budget, and it'll still hurt. If rich people valued their money so little, they'd likely give it all away.

LMA isn't always going to have tens of millions of dollars coming in. It's doubtful he changed his expenses to match his income just because he can, and therefor he goes about every day acting like 45K is just a pittance of money.

Sorry, guys... I'm just not getting what you're saying. That's my bad... I will say that a cheesebuger to a homeless guy is probably a lot more valuable than a cheeseburger to us... he's willing to go through the garbage to find half of one I just threw away.

Chuck Daly figured that one out in the 80s.

Mo suspension just means that the Knicks see Lillard more, I'm sure they're thrilled with that. Equally joyous for them will be the $45K that Aldridge takes out of their hide.

He went and got in Bogut's face near the end of the scrum.

In any case, what does it matter? I'd rather watch a team that's a little "salty." The squeaky clean, Kevin Pritchard teams were soft and got pushed around all the time and I hated them because of it.

Precisely!

He did set the example, don't fuck with my boys.
