Mo Williams?

Mo's agent was the one saying we've got offer greater than $2.7M. Hooooey!!

He won't be coming back here either. Blake took his #25 jersey and Blazers let him!! Read between the lines.

Yeah that was pretty obvious to me too...

I think it says a lot about Mo that he hasn't been signed yet.

Firstly, that he isn't that great.

Secondly, that his contract demands are ridiculous.

I could see the Nets or Heat picking Mo up. Maybe even the Knicks. I'd bet he's not coming here at all or getting a Mavs gig either.

I am really having trouble seeing which team still has an offer out for him. Who needs a backup point, has money, and is not tanking?

The concepts of how awesome he thinks he is, and how awesome others think he is do not agree.

This is essentially what happened last summer as well. He couldn't get an offer he liked so he signed with us on a cheap deal.

It seems perhaps the Blazers stats gurus have actual empirical data to support what some of us surmised about Mo watching his impact on the games. :dunno:

I thought Neil's interview with Bleacher Report at summer league was very telling of what the Blazers think of Mo. I don't have the exact quote but he basically said Blake fits the style of ball we want for our system and the bench last year was not effective in continuing the offense of the starters. Blake talked on Courside about how he is not an attacking PG as Mo was but what he does do is get the ball to teammates for them to break down the defense. I'm not sure if the Blazers have any interest in Mo next year for any price; even the minimum.

There are a number of teams such as the Pelicans, Rockets, Timberwolves, Cavs and Knicks who could possibly use Mo off the bench but some of them can't offer more than the minimum. I doubt any of them are considering giving him a multi year deal for more than the minimum. Mo ended up settling for $2.6 million last offseason; now the only difference is he had a terrible year statistically with a PER of 11 and bad defense. On what planet would that increase his market value? Mo's talk of needing a 3 year contract shows what an unrealistic sense of his own worth he has.

 Perhaps they looked at such esoteric stats as FG%...

Rockets went after Jameer and lost out to Dallas. Then rumor Rockets might be interested in Mo but just read rumor Garcia interested in Rockets.

Where is Mo going to go? Cavs for the minimum?

I actually agree that Blake is a better fit, I like that he's less of a score-1st PG than Mo.
I still think we need a 3rd PG though. Having just 2 players capable of playing PG is not enough. It isn't realistic to expect both to play 82 games and I don't see CJ at PG as an option.
We need even an Earl Watson type insurance PG.

Between Dame, Blake, CJ, Barton and most importantly Nico..we've got insurance in guys who can handle the ball. Nic brings it up when the second unit comes in anyway. He also switches on tougher pt guards like CP when we need stops. If Crabbe is waived, you could get Billups as a bench coach but I don't think we really are in that bad of a need for an Earl Watson type this season

I disagree. CJ may be able to play PG fine when he has Barton or Batum in the game with him. I expect to see some tests with it early on during next season. We had 80% of our starting lineup play 82 games so its certainly possible Dame and Blake do that next year. If there is an injury to one of them and if CJ/Barton struggle as PG's then we can sign a DLeague player. That's how the Lakers signed Kendall Marshall last season. There's so many PG's out there all the time it's not worth Paul Allen wasting nearly a million dollars on right now. I'd rather keep Clavier and Crabbe.

I will say this... I was wrong thinking mo would demand MLE. I would have bet money he was gonna get it

I don't think we wanted him back honestly. It was a case of there being no minutes for him and his play style.

no im thrilled...haha i am the biggest mo hater. im just amazed minny continuously just keeps picking up our scraps

I am not sure what to think about Mo. I complained about him during the season, but the reality was he gave us what we needed and that was scoring off the bench. My complaint was that he did not run the team very well when he was out there. But I thought he played better for Utah the year before in their style of offense . So was it Mo's fault? Or was he just following the game plan? Be aggressive and score.......

Either way I am glad we went in another direction.

I'm so glad he's gone. He scored well, but like hickson, at the expense of the team flow

Mo played exactly like Mo has always played. We knew what we were getting. It worked for last season.

This year, they want to see if McCollum or Barton can step up. Blake will get them the ball in proper situations to succeed or fail.
