I think he is a tweener. That's my "case", so to speak. It's otherwise known as an opinion. Time will tell what Jackson becomes; getting all pissy about labels at this point seems boring to me.

Hmm--I thought this discussion was quite entertaining. Honestly though, if you hadn't been so dogmatic in your "tweener" assertion, I probably wouldn't have bothered. Oh well, to each his own. In all reality, I'm even more sold on Jackson now than before we started, so thanks for that. :)

One could also do searches on "combo guard", or "comination guard", or even "PG/SG" for Reggie Jackson to find more examples, but I don't want to accuse anyone of being "lazy".

To be fair, I never called you lazy; I called your efforts in supporting your position lazy. A fine line, I guess. And I imagine that one could find more examples, if so inclined; however, since I'm not the one arguing that position, I have no reason to do so.

Jackson forgoes his senior season in Chestnut Hill, and is projected by some to go anywhere from late in the lottery to the second round. ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford, for one, has written that he believes Jackson’s stock will go up in workouts as teams wonder at point guard/shooting guard's combination of athleticism and length -- he has a 7-foot wingspan. Fran Fraschilla, on the other hand, is not a fan.

Really? I'm finding a lot more articles that call him a combination guard (you seem stuck on the word "tweener") than call him a true PG as I research him.

I just want to say this for the record. I don't think any of the picks in this draft are worth arguing about. Whether it's a "turd burger" or a "turd sandwich" kind of misses the point.

Good for you; you have fun looking at articles that do nothing more than place a label on him, and I'll ignore those in favor of those which contain actual analysis of his game and how it's likely to translate to the pros. As I said before, to each his own.

He might be a great pro for all I know. Being a combo guard doesn't mean one can't be a very good NBA player. Look at Russell Westbrook, who still can't decide what he wants to be, or what he is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you were the one who got upset for me placing a label on him, weren't you? If the Blazers draft him, and he becomes a great pure PG, or a great combo guard, then I don't care either way.

Upset? No, not at all. I simply questioned your claims ("can't shoot" & "tweener") with statistical evidence to the contrary; then I maligned your Bayless comparison, and off we went. Good times, good times...

I still think that he only had one great shooting season out of 3 at BC. Whether he made a quantam leap, or he got a lot of good bounces, will prove itself over time. Bayless shot 41% from 3pt at Arizona, and I don't think anybody in Portland would call him a good outside shooter.

Statistically, the Bayless comparison is appropriate, IMO. You were arguing the difference of 0.5 apg and 0.5 topg as being a big difference. To me, it's not.

He's arguing for the sake of an argument. He's never seen him play. Don't bother.

I don't agree with that. In every draft (no matter how shitty overall the draft is) there is players who are contributors in the NBA. If were looking for a star, than you have a point. But, this Blazer team needs to upgrade the bench big time.

You're right, I just can't seem to get myself worked up about players who will probably be 9-7th men.

To your point, even if they can pick up a rotation player or two for bench depth, I still see some pretty large holes in the starting lineup -- this team needs a talent infusion from top to bottom

He's late first round and looks like a very poor man's Gobert.

He's featured as one of the ACB's "top newcomers":

The youngest of the list of candidates, with only 20 years. Nogueira new blood is pure, fresh air to the Endesa League, becoming one of the youth that have excited this season. That match in La Fonteta in which ended with a 6/6 in the shot is a good reflection of its reliability at launch. 82 attempts, 56 hits, with an excellent 68.3% which gives more merit to their performances. Is 6th in math, 9 in blocks and has gone in only one season, to have a token presence to scratch and earn minutes in big games, like the one in which his team played against Barca Regal Cup returned to respond.

Nice to know he's good at math.
