Moda is withdrawing from the Oregon insurance market

The deal for the new arena in Golden State- it's a 20 year naming rights deal and it's not a ridiculous name like Sleep Train Arena, Smoothie King Center, or Talking Stick Resort... I mean those names sound like they're out of Futurama or something. How does that get past any kind of approval process?!

They're building that place in SF?

Wow.....if only Jed York did that too.....

And oh yeah: bring back The Rose Garden. "Moda Center" always sounded so commercial to me; devoid of life.

I normally don't get into debates like this, but I have to say something:

Without the healthcare, I would be screwed right now health wise. It saved my life. So I take offense to this.

I don't like it either, but it also saved my mother's life last year. $200K worth of cancer treatment, and all my parent's paid was a deductible of $5K.

The issue isn't that being able to get insurance is bad, but that they were in such a big hurry to pass this thing that they didn't make it sustainable. It's like the old joke that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. We needed an insurance system that we could ride for the long term and they gave us a broken down camel. I'm glad for those who have benefited so far, but I'm afraid a lot of people are going to be hurt in the long run.

I've been getting this odd stabbing pain in my knee lately.
That is HCP's rusty butter knife. :pumpkin:

Oh sure, you're still pissed at me about not supporting the Blazers tanking this season. ;)
I've still never understood that. I was never in the Tanking lane. I was in the Develop the heck out of Vonleh, Aminu, Crabbe, Meyers, Harkless etc lane instead of 45 shots a game for Dame/CJ and then see what you really have. What the Lakers and 76'ers are doing is embarrassing and I'd want no part of that.

Can I keep my doctor?
You already know the answer to that question. :biglaugh:

My opinion is : Corporate Money Politics. It has proven politically impossible to adopt good comprehensive affordable health care legislation. Corporate interests must profit, which is half the problem in the first place. It was this or nothing. I can only speculate that the hope was to adopt anything, and once enough people are dependent on it, fix/improve it later. Fuck politics.

I never accepted the name "moda center". When are we going back to rose garden? This arena naming thing is so cheesy. Like can we say the name of the arena without it being an advertisement?
