OT Mods, Biases, and Sects Oh My!

Read above. NO not direct.." you are an idiot", but we all know what is being said with the first couple of posts. The last few are simply pointing out nonproductive posts that happen all day every day and gets very little scolding(yes I saw the one that finally came down yesterday I think)

I also read the .. "so bitching about people bitching about people bitching convo"...So I know that will be the response of some.......Lets not forget there IS an origination to most convos that go south. And its pretty easy to pinpoint it in most cases.
Tally them up. See who continues to derail and talk to them.

Its like my boss. I had to talk to him this morning about when he is reprimanding the whole estimating section. Don't reprimand us all without specifics or it leads to confusion as to who is causing issues and who isn't. Pin point the issue and address it directly.


Maybe a suggestion... ask the person the insult is directed at and if they want a post removed, or that person removed, then consider it?

Anyhow. its pretty obvious some can have a louder, ruder mouth than others around here. Some can skate the line more than others around here.

Its tough to take serious a lecture on how to keep it constructive when you read posts like the ones above, some of which are by a mod who is basically saying to the forum, if you support Trump you are an idiot. We know it doesn't say that, but we know it reads that.

Lets not make it a bigger deal than it is. I only made the point in rebuttal to something. Not as some declaration. Ive been around long enough to see and know the trends around here...

There were no direct insults. There is a difference between a direct insult and an indirect insult directed at a demographic rather than a person. The rule as currently states says that only direct insults are enforceable. should that change? That can be argued. But, as Mods we try to have as few rules as possible to allow autonomy in the forum.

Should a Mod be held to a higher standard, yes. Did Stren break any rules, no. He is also a poster here and is allowed to share his thoughts and opinions. I know I can get pretty heated myself in arguments about politics. I try to be aware of what I am writing because I know my words will be scrutinized more than the regular poster. That doesn't mean that sometimes my emotions don't get the better of me and I offer a heated response that may or may not carry with it an insult direct or not. I am after all human just as Stren is.

To jump to bias is a little much. If you go back in the thread I addressed everyone...in capital letters. Everyone. So did Sly. Posts have been removed on both sides. There are posts from both sides implying the other side are idiots. We can't police every mean word that is said.

We call out everyone who breaks the rules, no bias, no exceptions. We may at times miss a post where a personal insult occurs which is why we rely on everyone to report those posts. We take them all seriously.

I agree it's not productive to use indirect insults. I don't reccomend doing it. I prefer adult conversation. After I called everyone out the other day, it actually resulted in posters having real conversations...at least for a short time. But, it de-evolves quickly into I know you are but what am I? Which is ridiculous considering we are all adults here.

There is no exact answer, accept people need to start acting grown the fuck up. That goes for everyone on both sides.

I have no idea who deletes and bans people from any particular threads so I can't speak of any bias from any mod, but I can say there have been inconsistencies. Honestly, I could really care less, but if you don't see the inconsitency then so be it. I was simply making a point.
