dude! That one was my jam! Right by Chuck E Cheese's!
I used to eat there when I worked at Bess Kaiser.
What did you do at Bess Kaiser? My mom worked there for years. I was born there and lived down the block from there for about the first 7 years of my life.

Reading the article in the OP, I remember that my grandfather used to love getting liver and onions in Carrow's and Denny's. Was that an 80's thing? A Portland thing? A German-descent thing?
Mom and Dad met working there. But I think it was up by 26th?I remember when the Denny's by the convention center was a Sambos, lol.
Mom and Dad met working there. But I think it was up by 33rd
Interestingly enough, it was probably when I went into the Marines before I knew that the name meant anything else. I thought, similar to Denny's and Shari's or McDonald's, it was the name of the owner (Bob Sambo's Restaurant or something). I know it was an amalgamation of the two owners, but had no other connotation.Your mom and dad met working at a Sambos?!?
THAT.IS.AWESOME!
The original owner of the New Orleans Jazz was the founder of Sambos. Odd choice for a restaurant name in a city with a large black population. I guess that's why he moved the team to Salt Lake City.
FUCK!

How is that even possible!? I can't imagine McDonalds (the corp) would want to let this thing go.
It's not that big, seems like Emmert could move that thing pretty easily.
Yeah, it seems like that should be a central part of the McDonalds there, at least as a display. Otherwise, whats the point of ever keeping it there in the first place?
You ever eat there?
Me neither. At the original Mcdonalds? Nope.
