As Casey Stenglel said you could look it up. I served my first 10+ years in the US Army Security Agency, partnered with the US Air Force Security Service, and the Naval Security Group. Pretty elite company. Country Singer Johnny Cash was in the ARSS, Country Singer Don Williams the Army Security Agency. By the early Seventies the Security Groups were being phased out. My former MOS was down to one Euro Assignment of Sinop Turkey or Shemya Alaska. I found those assignments limited and was told the only thing I could do was reclassify so I did and went to the Quartermaster Corp. Agency Slots were filled so there I was a Regular Army Troop. Found it to be a good challenge though holding till retirement.

Wow, truly elite company indeed, ........
To this day I still enjoy the hell out of this tune, Don was a smooth Operator.......and Cash, Epic........!!!

...yeah, my Dad served in the tail end of WWII (Pacific)...Korea, and then Nam...32-33 years total. I recall how concerned he was during the "missiles of October" ....he told us all "this could be the end".

That'll happen in few years when an Islamic hostile Nation, Iran- gets it's Nuclear Weapons- compliments of this recent "deal/steal" perpetrated by our leaders.

John Kerry - made his original claim to fame ratting out GIs.

...The Man In Black...lotta big names in this video too;

Holy shit, You weren't kidding:
Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, K. Kristofferson, HW Jr., C. Rock, Timberlake, Crowe, Dennis Hopper, Keith Richards, Bono, Kid Rock, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top, Johnny Depp..........

Cash was a ditty bopper, don't know the AFS for that but in the Agency it was MOS 05H (Hog). I heard him tell how he earned a Letter of Commendation for making the first Morse Code Intercept from a Soviet Bison Bomber. I was shocked to hear that come out of his mouth in '68. Air Force Security Personnel had to score in the upper one per cent of applicants to qualify. Not sure of qualification scores for Naval Security Group Personnel For us Army Security it was top 10 per cent.

Look, when civilized people are fighting savages....you back the civilized people. Israel is our ally and we should back them, period. They were founded on a lot of ex-pat Americans, and former European refugees. There is a book called ALLY...strongly suggest it be read if you want to understand Israel-US relationship.

As far as the issues in the Middle East being OUR fault....sorry not drinking the self abuse koolaid. The purpose of our military is to break things, PERIOD. Totally agree there. Then we get out and if they get rowdy again, we remind them to behave with some selected bombings. A major crater a mile from Mecca as a warning.

...Oren's/Bornstein's book could be considered composite comments.

...just sayin'.

I basically said the same stuff and I agree this "policemen of the world" and "savior of the world" mentality has got to stop...

I agree with all of this... no more until you pull your weight and provide something beneficial!

And we DEFINITELY need to take care of our own issues first

And..imo...eventually the way things are going, ultimately we just may have to be
THE SAVIOR....not now...not tomorrow..... but who?
Who?

France?
England? lol....."overrated"
Germany? Nah.....

Thread was way too far along to quote each and every debate topic. Didn't have the time.

Ally is far from composite....its a rather historical perspective of the deliberate actions of Obama to undermine US-Israeli relationship. No doubt that Obama as progressive liberal and black is doubly anti-semetic. Now Oren does deviate from his previous works, but this is more a history of diplomacy and politics anyway.

If you can't read the book Id listen to some of his interviews, he did a lengthy piece over at Hugh Hewitt dot com.

I do not buy into this libertarian narrative that we made these messes. Bottom line, once these Arab countries got out of line and it impacted our national interests, we have to be prepared to act. You don't want to be policeman...fine. Go take a stroll in Baltimore at night and experience a world without policemen. Even Rand Paul is coming around to the concept that we don't have to get into protracted fights, but we damn well get back to issuing warnings and than acting when challenged. All one needs to do is look at China and Russia actions in the vacuum of. American power projection.

I have no problem with your wanting to fix shit at home first....great. Here's my challenge...top 3 things and do it with less govt.

We've had 100 years of violence in the Middle East since the Brits and French fucked things up with the Sykes-Picot Agreement. Obama was handed the perfect opportunity to negotiate a resolution but couldn't even manage a SOFA.

SOFA, - "Status Of Forces Agreement" (applies to both NATO and D.O.D.)......

The Eternal War in the Middle East, lets end it, with 'Rods From God' Target practices, make those fks think Allah is coming, and indeed He is, ..........!

...he's somewhat biased...he's equally "pro-semetis".

...huh?...now you are talking about taking care of issues here at home instead of abroad...which is exactly what I said.

I have no problem with your wanting to fix shit at home first....great. Here's my challenge...top 3 things and do it with less govt.

...the government itself needs to be revamped.

domestic policies....immigration, education and welfare/entitlement reform. and we can do all 3 and strengthen the military and project power on multiple fronts.
What are your thoughts on education, immigration and the welfare/entitlement fiasco?

let me get this straight...do you or do you not support Israel? By support...(a) have a right to exist, (b) have territorial claim to the 1967 borders.

I do. And feel their borders should be what they were centuries ago, not just 1967

Darth is that YOU......?

67 is good enough....its territory they won after kicking sand jockey ass.

Now the rest of the mideast borders are a crock of shit. oh well won't matter because you can be certain that saudi's are buying nukes as we speak.

What are your thoughts on education, immigration and the welfare/entitlement fiasco?

education - dissolve Dept of Ed...kick responsibility back to States. Limited federal financial support for inner cities/economically challenged areas provided teachers employed based on merit and not tenure.

immigration - build walls north and south. labor pool to include anyone physically able that is on govt assistance and captured aliens. Simultaneously issue chipped SS/National ID cards...to all citizens born of citizens. With EVerify, those unable to work must report to HSA depots for processing. Fines, back taxes, remuneration for any illegally obtained assistance - to be worked off on the wall or via military service. All criminals (and families) returned to nation of origin. English official language and only language for oral/written communication. Vetted illegals can never earn citizenship, just work permits. Must be able to show financial means and sponsorship. finally elimination of anchor baby process by legislation (ways to decouple from 14th amendment without further amendment). Detailed tracking of all foreign visitors on visas.

welfare/entitlement - 2 classes: permanent disability (including mental) and hardship. No more federal welfare, foodstamp, healthcare programs. Shift responsibility to the states. Begin to unwind Social Security, in order to do so it must be means-tested (ineligible) for the wealthy and govt/union employees with pensions. Unemployment shifts back to work programs for infrastructure. Hardship assistance can only be granted for a short period, and only once per 10 years. Fixing education and Immigration is going to have a significant impact on jobs available and will mitigate hardship cases.

those are my top 3 because they are all linked. Additional govt down sizing by gutting EPA and shift responsibility back to states, following Congressional guidelines (dont need a bureaucracy for that). Flat tax reform for individual/corporations and gut IRS. Fed should primarily consist of Dept of Defense/Homeland Security, Dept of Energy (build more 4th gen nuclear reactors and desal plants), NASA and NIH.

We can shrink federal employees by 67% over a multiyear period....they are paying a lion share the wind down of SS after all.

True, but I'd expand it just to piss the rag heads off

I love these ideas!

...like I said, a nuclear agreement with Iran is not worth the paper it's written on.

Agree- big time!
