More of Chris Johnson?

Did he get a second 10 day?

Remember how Juan "The Mahn" Dixon used to be our end of game clutch shooter before we got Roy? Our shooting percentage has sucked ever since we got rid of him. He made shots at least as consistently as Matthews or Rudy. The Mahn should have Mills' spot.

Juan On Five had absolutely no redeeming qualities as a basketball player.

I hope you forgot the green text.

In so many games, we have no one who can score, and it's then I dream of how The Mahn used to win us games. He could have gotten us some points tonight against the Pacers. I never use green font because I'm dead serious. My middle name is Ernesto and I'm quick. I shoot you first, then I decide whether to shoot. I always decide I was right.

I've been trying to forget about Juan Dixon

His contract wasn't renewed because we expect Camby back within the next two weeks. If we would have re-signed Johnson, we would have had to wait the two full weeks before Camby could return.

Why 2 weeks, not 10 days? It seems that even 14 days would have fit into the 2 constraints of when Camby will return, and when the All-Star Game will be.

He is pleasingly active, but this thin-as-a-reed pushover doesn't deserve the cult he gained in his 2 Blazer games.

I guess I just don't understand the intrigue with Johnson. He's a 200lb. PF/C.

Now he just got waived by the Celtics.
Boston decided to use a roster spot that will open with Chris Johnson's expiring 10-day contract to add Arroyo.

Now the real question is, should we stick with Collins or go after Johnson?

My guess is Nate is much more comfortable with Collins' experience.

Why not both? There is a vacant roster spot.
Yeah, there's no point wasting a roster spot on a PG who isn't better than the two bench guys we've got. Might as well try out a project PF, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

I just don't think that jason collins is so good at what he does (apparently rebounding and setting picks) that he can make any significant difference in our season, so i would go with a guy who still has some potential (Johnson); we do not have any young consistently healthy bigs on our roster and we somehow need to develop one.

Nice lob pass in the fourth for him and a dunk. He even got fouled. That was sweet.

For a rookie, this game it showed a little what he could do even though hes unpolished. Still that was awesome and the crowd loved it.

He may be a rookie but he is almost 26.

The guy is a 200 pound stick at nearly 26. I'm sure his agent told him long ago that his path to multimillion dollar contracts is to add at least 15 pounds of muscle. For whatever reason, he just hasn't done it. I'm skeptical it'll ever happen.

Too bad, though. His talent is obvious.

I've seen things saying he has tried to put on weight and it just hasn't worked. Maybe his body just won't do it no matter what.

as someone who comes from a family that doesn't put on weight early, I think it will change in the next couple of years. But it might not be the right kind of weight ;]

Nice to see CJ get some burn last night. I hope he sticks around Portland this summer and hits the weight room hard. He'll play in the SL and he'll be in camp in the Fall (assuming no long term lockout). At some point, calorie intake and weight lifting has to be able to override metabolism and ectomorphy. If Rip Hamilton can put on muscle, so can Chris Johnson.

Take this how you will: last night was a career night for CJ in just about every category, and he had the highest GameScore of his young career... 5.4.

GameScore is dependent on minutes played, unlike PER, for example.

CJ had a PER of over 30 for his first game as a Blazer, yet had a GameScore of 2.6.

Speaking of PER (despite the miniscule sample size); CJ has a PER of 13.9 as a Blazer; gven his PER dropped from 30 to 5 or something like that in the second game, that 4th game last night must have been another high PER outing for him.

Can he survive in the wind near the Columbia? Let's hope he doesn't open his jacket. He'll go down faster than a sapling.

I predict that working out all summer will LOSE him weight. He should rest up to conserve his calories.

On Internal Media day he was adamant that he couldn't put on weight and didn't want to put on a lot of muscle because his game relies on his quickness. Maybe now that he has a non-guaranteed contract for next year it will motivate him to put on muscle and get with a specialist to put on weight. I think his only real chance of staying with us next year is if he puts on 15-20 pounds at least.

on a side note i'd happily donate some of my bulk to him. So sad that a 5'11 guy is heavier then a 7 footer.

He should ask Aldridge what putting on 15 lbs of muscle did for his quickness.

Yeah, CJ said his ideal playing weight is 220.. He weighed in at 192 at the combine and I doubt he's much more than 200 now.
