Gee, thanks Larry. We have only been discussing that on this board for over a month. Larry is on drugs if he thinks he's going to get two, A prospects plus a draft pick for Girardi. At most he'll get something like this from Penguins

1st 2014
2nd 2015
Bennett

for

Callahan

1st 2014
Fraser
Morrow
Knight

for

Girardi

Basically three B level prospects and a 1st from the Bruins

We should be buyers, not sellers.

...are you nuts?

Right now I'm siding with 31. This team is not as bad as people on here make it out to be. I mean every single loss you'd think they got blown out 7-0. Blow up the team, trade everybody, blah blah. Then the team puts up 7 goals and there's one thread about it. Never seen a fanbase overreact like this one.

Right now this team is 2 points out of a playoff spot. If Henrik gets back to form (he will) and if Nash starts scoring then we are not that far away. We're some size and a solid scorer away from being able to hang with the upper teams. We've already outplayed Boston, we've outplayed Pitt, we've outplayed LA. But reading this forum you'd think we're worse than Buffalo. If we get closer to march and nothing changes then yeah bite the bullet and sell. But to call ourselves sellers in early January when we're 2 points out is mind boggling.

Thats the issue, prod. We are not as bad as people think we are. We are also not a good team either, we are in between. It is the same story every year except 11/12 season. We are decent enough but not terrible. We don't ever draft high because of that. Lets look at bigger picture here. The next two upcoming drafts seem to be loaded with talent so lets for once have our pieces in place to get some serious talent and build a real contender and not to be pretenders.

I still dont see the point of waiting untill March. They are not winning anything this year, may as well start mini rebuild now.

Glad we got someone who already knows the future, will def save us a lot of aggravation going forward. Thanks for the heads up. When are they expected to win? this way i know when to tune in again. Btw, any chance you could throw me some lotto #s? could use the extra cash, ya know.

Exactly. It's humorous to see everyone panic after every loss and diminish every win. "GUT THIS TEAM NOW!".

If come the deadline we're realistically out of it, go ahead and sell all you want but until then, with such weak conference we need to be buyers.

If i look at the Eastern Conference there is no one that scares me. I don't care what PIT does in the regular season because once the playoffs start Fleury goes on full meltdown mode.

I like the Bruins a lot, but they went to the SCF's last year so i think by the time the playoffs run around they could be there for the taking with tired legs.

I'm not a buyer on TB with their goalie situation and everyone else is as flawed as we are.

Of course we need Henrik to be Henrik but the ECF is very winnable.

31, I am not the only one who thinks that way. If you actually read the board you would know.

I know many people feel that way, b/c as Prod put it, it's a very overreacting fan base.

Honest question: Looking at the conference how many teams do you think are there that we can say "yea, if we run into those there's no chance we get past them".

Understand the current flaws/limitation, but trades can still be made.

You wait until March anyway because the closer you get to the deadline, the higher the price gets for rentals. Why trade Girardi now if we can let the bidding war in March drive his price up? Even if this team was in dead last (which we arent believe it or not) I wouldn't trade him yet.

This team has very little left on the farm that can be considered expendable at the deadline. If we are going to buyers who do we have that anyone would even want??? Saying we should be buyers is far more ridiculous than saying we should be sellers.

"Look at the east and say who CANT we beat" Well ok... I can pretty confidently say a healthy Pittsburg would dismantle this team in a seven game series. Hank would need to stand on his head like hes never done before. Our D isn't what it used to be either so that makes a superhuman performance goalie wise even more unlikely. What makes you think a series with the Bruins would go any better than it did last year? We have become SOFTER since last season, and last year we already looked like a bunch of pu$$$yss against them. Just because we had select few good games against them in the first half of the season you honestly think that we can take either of those teams in a seven game series? You gotta be kidding me. Hell, this team has to go 7 games to beat the likes of Washington every year to even make the second round... and if we do make the playoffs that's precisely who we will see in round one. We were a major part of fkin Philip Grubauer becoming the starter there and OV is having a better than normal year. So yeah this team that's worse than the previous 3 years squads is going to be able to what those groups couldn't. Just stop it.

I keep looking at the standings and the Rangers are not far behind many teams which is hard to believe. Part of the reason is they don't have many OT losses. They either win or lose in regulation. So their win total is pretty high.

We get it, Mig, no worries. Everyone's better and we're worse. We couldn't beat my high school team and we need to gut this team. We get it.

Do we watch the same team every night? I don't see how anyone can think we have a legit cup chance this year without just being a total homer. Honest question: What about this team makes you think we can win a cup?

Like is Benoit Pouliot going to continue being a point a game player? Is Rick Nash magically going to start playing like the star hes supposed to be? Is the defense going to start shutting other teams down and helping Hank out? Love him, but when Mats Zuccarello is your best forward... your not going anywhere.

Good lord dude relax. I don't think anybody on here will say this team is going to win the cup but I think it's just as ridiculous to completely write them off at this point in the year. Hank has been awful Nash has been awful Stepan has been awful and THEY ARE STILL ONLY TWO POINTS OUT. Nobody knows where this team will be 2 months from now so lets save the season over talk for then.

Haha well it won't be me even if this team wins out, I don't care about being right that much to dig up an old thread Just think it's pretty lame to give up on them in January when there is a ton of hockey left to play.

Whatever is better for the team. Selling or buying. All depends on the returns.

Absolutely, and I think waiting is best not just because we'll know more a month from now but rental prices go way higher the closer you get to the deadline.

So if they keep chugging along at .500 and say we are still two points out come the deadline... are we supposed to suddenly become buyers?

And why would you sell? because you were panicky in early January?

If we're around .500 and only 2pts out, that means the teams ahead of us are just as flawed and we could be better than if we make the right deals.

A lot can happen in two months. If things stay exactly the same and we're still .500 I'd lean seller and give Girardi to the highest bidder.

No that means you have a 2% chance of winning it all and just sold off pieces for the future. I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

Just because you're buying doesn't mean you're mortgaging the future. No one is saying go trade Miller for a Ryan Smyth. Wake up.

We have been over a million times in other threads why we are supposed to sell. Huge amounts of cap space this off season and an opportunity to draft twice in the first round and hopefully twice in the 2nd round to support a farm system that has shrunk in NHL talent in recent years. This season can best be chalked up to an opportunity for AV to see who he likes and wants for the future. Let him and management draft who they feel can fit the new system. Sign 5 or 6 new players for next year. Last shot at a run with Hank. The past two seasons with Torts were this teams shot.. they didn't get it done. Hit the reset button for a season and try again.

Ok so who's out there. Steve Ott? Your still gonna have to give up someone like a JT Miller for him. No dynamic series changer is going to be found at the deadline without sending off one of few remaining top prospects.
