Funny, I remember some discussion on Boston, but really remember them showing LA was dead last of all playoff teams after round 3. Was shocked the Rangers were better than them. I guess they scored a couple in the finals to move up slightly.
I know the stats I put up are very limited and you can look at stats any which way, but it seems you almost have to have a very good PK, but can do it without a good PP. I'm sure we'd all have our theories. Mine is that playoff teams are more evenly matched and more disciplined, fewer penalties are called, so there is more even strength play, especially when you add in OT. You don't want to give up many PP goals because there is typically less scoring and you're really behind the 8 ball if you give one up. Getting a pp goal can help but not necessary, while giving one can be a killer and is hard to get back.

I was just thinking it's funny how a lot of threads morph into another topic. This has nothing to do with the original post.

since the Jeter thread got bumped, it reminded me of this one.

If only we had sold in January, lol.

The whole point of the thread was that if they kept playing like the dogshit team that they were until mid Jan that they had very appealing moves to make at the deadline.

As we all saw, they turned their play around, the cally fiasco happened, and by some miracle Sather spun it into getting St. Louis. He hasn't performed but it certainly was making the best of a bizarre situation with a teams captain getting too greedy.

We are making a nice playoff push right now the team is playing well. I hope we are able to hang in with the physical styles of play that Boston and Pitt bring if we get by the Flyers in the 1st round. If we cant... well some major decisions still need to made this summer.

Good stuff 31.

Whether they win a round or not, the big decisions(both of which should really be easy) is buying out BR and letting all UFA's except maybe Pouliot/Diaz walk. I was big on keeping Stralman but his recent play plus what he's asking make it easier to let him go. I'd explore the Kesler thing at the draft, and would be willing to ship Stepan and maybe a 1st if it's late for him. Then sign Stastny and a 2nd line winger.

Would like to see more of Diaz before we don't offer a second contract to Stralman.
