Movement v. Iso

I was pleasantly surprised at all the movement in this game and am having a hard time remembering any slow, strict iso plays. I loved it.

Do you think this is due to the new assistant coaches or something else?

Also props to Brandon for keeping the ball moving. I thought he blended nicely with his teammates and didn't seem to be hogging it at all.

yeah the only moment where the offense bogged down (at least to my recollection) was right after the timeout before the half ended. Not sure exactly what we ran out of that timeout. But yes I saw so much more player movement last night than any game I remember last year.

Not many ISO's at all, which was great to see.

The movement was better, but still too many jumpers at the shot clock buzzer. Big improvement in game 1 though over last year.

It's probably a combination of things. New coaches, Nate improving, the team actually having multiple healthy players, Better backup PG, better cutters, especially on the 2nd unit - and the majority of the minutes at the Center position played by a guy with experience in Camby over Greg/Pendy

I was curious what your take on this would be. I'm guessing it will just get better from here. I was mostly glad to see it worked because part of me feared that if it didn't they would revert back to isos.

I thought a big improvement had to to do with the guards who are playing on the second unit. Rudy and Mathews really keep moving and move the ball very fast compared to the starters.

I was pleasantly surprised with the improved player and ball movement last night.

I think part of it was the Suns defensive schemes, at least for LaMarcus. They doubled him every time he was in the post, or any time he had the ball for that matter. He didn't make the Suns pay, like he should, but when the ball came out it got swung around and guys were still looking for cutters so it didn't have that 'last second desparate shot' feeling when they did get a look.

I'm encouraged.

Definitely. Thinking back on the game, I totally agree about the movement. I barely saw Roy iso, which is actually kind of surprising. He did say he was working on spot up shooting, and he had a big night from beyond the arc, so maybe we can optimistically hope this is a trend.
