Watching some WWII movies with dad. We are starting with The Great Escape.

He is a huge fan of Steve McQueen and James Garner.

Next on the list:
Sahara (with Humphrey Bogart)
The Guns of Navarone (with Gregory Peck)
The Heroes of Telemark (with Kirk Douglas and Richard Harris)
Battleground (with James Whitmore and Van Johnson)
They Were Expendable (with Robert Montgomery and John Wayne)
Operation Pacific (with Ward Bond and John Wayne)

Had never heard of it, stumbled upon it on amazon prime, Sicario. Absolutely loved it. Every second. Then last night I stumbled upon the “sequel.” Not great, but I’ll definitely watch Sicario again

You lucky #%÷!# one of my favorite movies and you just now stumbled upon it. We just watched What We Do in the Shadows. I have had a man crush on Jemaine Clement since Moana.
 
Uncut Gems - Really good, intense, hectic, stressful, interesting, and Sandler was very good (but not great), and I would never want to see it again.

Star Wars, Ep. 9: Someone seriously mismanaged the plot for the past few movies - Did Han Solo save the day? No, he was dead. Did Leia? No, she really died. Did Luke? No, for some dumbass reason, they killed him off too. No it was Billie Dee Williams who saved the day. Lando? Give me a break!

Ford v. Ferrari: Excellent.

Bombshell: Charlize was amazing.

Little Women: My wife and girls loved it.

At home we watched two old favorites - Oliver! and The Sound of Music. Tried to get them to watch Hoosiers. Hopefully next year!

The Great Escape was playing on the TV as my dad was getting ready to leave his apartment for the last time to go to hospice. At one point I asked him if he was ready to leave, and he said almost, but he wanted to see Steve McQueen jump over the fence on the motor cycle first.

Have you guys seen Von Ryan's Express? Frank Sinatra is the star. It's another WWII prison escape film. I saw it on TV as a kid and would sometimes have dreams about it growing up.

Hopefully the transition goes smoothly. I had dad move in with me after his second stroke. It's the major one that permanently incapacitated him. Now, I celebrate each day I can with him. I hope the best for you and your dad.

That movie is famous.

If you like war movies I suggest you try Never so Few with Frank Sinatra. It is based on a true story during WWII in the Pacific theater.

I'm not going anywhere. Just give me a call since my wife will want to get ready. She's still asleep from over half that bottle of champagne last night.
 
hobbesarrable and I watched Get Carter and Mr. Roberts together and now I've started watching Real Men all of which are very good but especially Mr. Roberts.
 
Just watched Straight outta Compton. Bought it when it came out and thought it was decent but not great.

I'd say it was much better on the second viewing. Maybe I was in a bad mood the first time.
