OK, here it IS: Air, the new Michael Jordan movie by Ben Affleck is fantastic, especially for us hoops folks. Fun, fascinating, intriguing. Loved it and you will too!!
 
Went to Air this weekend and it's tough to deny the chemistry that Matt and Ben have together, such a great bromance. I hated the knife being dug into Blazer fans a few times but knew it was going to happen. I was sitting next to a couple of college aged girls and a few of the sweeping shots of the Nike offices with the trees and Mt. Hood in the background, they'd say "oh it's so pretty I want to go there but I don't know where it is," was amusing for me. As for the actual movie, it was fun, a good hour and 45 minutes that move'd pretty quickly. Damon as Sonny V was good, even if he seemed to round off a lot of the harder edges the real SV seems to have, and they were able to snag quite a few guys that seemed over qualified for their parts (Bateman, Tucker, Wayans) but could tell they were having fun working with their friends. Viola was fantastic as always and could see an outside shot at an Oscars nom for her. Overall very enjoyable film, my wife left wanting a pair of 1's so the 'marketing' worked on her! Solid B+ movie.

Watched it last night and enjoyed it a lot. I wonder how close to accurate Sonny's conversation with MJs mother really was. Especially how he described the competition.
 
THE MACHINE ... maybe it's all about low expectations, maybe the drinks were that good or maybe it's just a crazy enough story that was told really well and hit on some funny beats but Bert Kreischer's flick that opened this weekend was one of the better pure comedies I've seen in a long time. Well worth the trip inside to get a little AC, some drinks and popcorn while just turning off the brain for 100 minutes and having some fun.

Watched it tonight and it was interesting. Filmed almost like a documentary but although I certainly lived through the rise and fall of the Blackberry it was interesting to see the behind the scenes issues.
 
After Rachel Maddow referred to Robert Hansson, FBI agent/spy for Russia who recently died in prison, I watched Breach. Good flick but turns out they fictionalized Eric O'Neill's story. The young FBI employee who brought him down.
 
Well I saw the new Transformers and enjoyed walking out of the theatre when it was over.

Horrific in every way.
 
The Flash ... it was alright for a super hero comic book movie but definitely not the greatest of the genre like the hype was going into it. Really wish they hadn't dropped the Batman spoiler in the promotional material but when the star of the movie is basically still on cultural timeout for some pretty heinous accusations, the studio had to do something to get the word out and understand why they went the route they did. Overall not bad but won't be ever sitting down to watch it again ... solid 7 from me.
 
Watched Sweetwater (Clifton) tonight about the first Black American NBA player who played for the Knicks. Very entertaining. Not sure how historically accurate it is but the characters were all based on actual people.
 
I know extremely behind the times with this one haha, but finally watched Spartacus over the weekend and must say I was surprised by it, very good movie.

8/10.
 
So Maria and I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie today. I went in with a very, very low expectations, especially after the last two . But I am happy to report that we are both blown away. It’s super fun, a rollicking good time. No, it doesn’t match The first one, or the one with Sean Connery. Oh well.

nut this movie was fun, engaging, heartfelt, unexpected, retro, and new - all at once. It kept the excitement going. It had a good story, and it had an ending that knocked our socks off. Never saw it coming! for sure way better than Temple of Doom and the last dumb one with the ufo.

Solid B+!.

Glad to hear. I've heard it was absolutely horrible (one quote was: "I never thought I'd wish that Shia LeBeouf would show up and make this movie like the last one"...oof). But my son spent much of his 4-7 years dressing up as Indy every day and learning how to whip, and the differences between each of the pistols, and watching the movies on loop, and meeting the stuntman Indy at Hollywood Studios...you get it. He came to me yesterday (he's 11) and asked: "Dad, this is my only chance to ever see Indy in the theaters...can we go?" So I'll likely go see it this week.

LOL, just watched that last week. Sizemore's look right there, and the guy at the other table going "nope" is fun.
Was such a huge deal when this came out that De Niro and Pacino were in the same scene for the first time.

Edit: I heard that Marines watch clips of this to show how to go street-by-street in urban fighting, because Mann was a fanatic about having the expert drill the actors until it was precise.

Just go in with low expectations and you can’t go wrong! And tell me if you don’t like the surprise ending.
 
OK, Blockbuster #2 this summer: Mission Impossible, Dead Reckoning. I'm not a big fan of the last few of these movies -- too convoluted for me. But man, this was a blast! One scene and stunt topped the next. My wife and 25 year old daughter loved it too.

Two thumbs up - err, three!
 
The newest release I've seen I saw while dog sitting at my son's house on his cable tv..it was the new Top Gun and I liked it more than I thought I would. I also watched the last Creed movie and found it kind of disappointing and I usually like boxing movies. I'd love to see the last Indiana Jones and Oppenheimer but I'll pass on Barbie or the Comic Book super hero movies...haven't had much luck on Netflix finishing movies I start to watch...most fiction bores me. I watch a lot of stand up, live music or documentaries.
 
Recently watched Operation Fortune, a Guy Ritchie film and thought it was pretty good. Aubrey Plaza was an interesting mix with Jason Statham. Worth blowing a free Amazon Video rental on. Does anyone else have a ton of those rental credits with Amazon?

Went and watched "The Sound of Freedom" this weekend. Heavy. My son and I both noticed that with the lack of manufactured obstacles/drama, it's likely that they simply kept true to the actual story, which is rare these days.
