Dame is averaging more points, rebounds, and assists than Kyrie.
Per 36, Kyrie is average 1.5 more PPG than Dame and scoring more efficiently. I think they're about as even as you can get, so Kyrie gets the edge due to team success.

I'd say Boston is better now than they were last year, and better equipped for playoff success. Between and Tatum being as tong and they are, being the 3rd and 4th options on a playoff team with Horford being very good but not a great all-star, Kyrie has been great. Take him off that team and they're lucky to make the playoffs.

Take Dame off our team and we're not not even close to making the playoffs. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Of course not. But were 2 games above the cutline and they're 15 games above.

The fact that have each other hurts them in my opinion. My 5 have had less to work with.
Exactly. Take one away and they're still the contender they are. Therefore, how valueable are they individually? The loss of one means more shots for the other, which isn't a bad thing because they're both super-efficient.

They're in the East. We're in the West.

Don't even try to pretend those to things are equal.

There's not an 8 game difference, and considering we lost to them with them missing key players..

Do you honestly believe we'd be 20+ games above .500 if we were in the east?

How did you jump to that conclusion??????? That completely ignores everything else I said about BOS - better roster, better coach, better system, better GM...

And team success, throughout history, has played a role in tks award. Not to mention Kyrtie has been a better and more efficient scorer than Dame this year, and around even everywhere else.

Nah..
Doesn't quite work like that imo.
Unfortunately, it seems like it does. It's called "most valuable player award" but it's really "best player on best teams award". How often do we hear the talking corporate shills announcing the games and on TNT say that if you don't lead your team to the finals blah blah blah blah blah.

To a point, but not to where someone with mediocre (by MVP standards) gets into the top 5. Derozen isn't playing good enough.

I agree with that. Even if his team wins the east, he's not winning it over Harden or Durant or Davis.

Or Kyrie, or Steph, or Dame, or even Giannis.

I never said DeRozen was winning the award. Just that he's top 5. Just like IT last year. DeRozen has dark horse candidacy for MIP this year too. He's really improved his game, adding the three point shot and making his teammates better. Edit: he's only shooting 31% from three.

Sure but while Paul is a good player, Harden has no All Star teammates. Nor does Anthony Davis. Nor does Dame.
CP3 is a Hall of Famer just past his prime. He would've been an All-Star almost any other year. You can't just say that he's "a good player" as if he's worse than CJ or something.

Disagree.

BOS was the No. 1 seed in the East last year, and could end up No. 2 this year. Has Kyrie really made them any better than they already were? He has a current (and 5 time) all star as a teammate, who I think is one of the most underrated - by the fans - players in the league, and two top 3 draft picks starting next to him. Aren't top 3 picks supposed to be impact players? Sure, they "lost" Hayward, but they were already the best team in the East without him. They were No. 1 in the East with IT and will be No. 1 or No. 2 with Kyrie. He has a much better roster, both starters and bench, than Dame, a better coach and a better system. And, he plays in a much weaker conference.

Dame has a lot less to work with and plays in the toughest division of the toughest conference.

I never understood why Kyrie got way more shine than dame nationally and in the media though their career numbers are very similar. Dame has worked with a lot less. Only arguments I see for Kyrie being better is his big finals shot and a title and lets face it, was brought there because basketballs 2nd greatest player of all time was there. Kyrie is great but I truly think Dame is something special both on and off the court and I honestly would take him over any point guard in the league. No other PG has the leadership qualities that Dame has. A couple might be better but like I said, Dame is something else

I didn't say he was worse than CJ.

I’m not taking about Harden. I’m talking about two of the top 5 players in the game - no debate- Steph and KD who are on the best team not being on your list. It’s ludicrous.

Which one is MVP? Curry or Durant? They have it easy since they have the other one. It's MVP, not list all the good players.

So Magic shouldn’t have won because Kareem? Kareem because Magic? Bird shouldn’t have won mvp because McHale or Parish? MJ/Pippen? That’s your logic. You hate the Warriors. We get it. I’m surprised Al faruq Aminu isn’t on your list.

Kyrie above Dame. Better stats, better team, lost an all star teammate first game of the year and has a rookie and a 2nd year player starting, and is still right there with the 1 seed. He's being overlooked.
:curse:

You make good points. I still believe Harden, Davis, and Dame have had to work harder than Durant and Curry who make each other's lives way too easy by comparison. It's not like that every year but I think that those three deserve it over them. You think otherwise and that's cool.
