ok, that's a good start there. The nets will play defense, and don't have any idiots on the team. Other than Swift, of course, but I fully expect him to be gone by opening night.

I wasn't comparing the Nets to last year's Celtics. Different teams and situations entirely.

Ask yourself: who was most responsiible for the nets' erratic defense last season? The answer is a combination of Jason Kidd, Marcus Williams, Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic (horrible), Boki Nachbar, Sean Williams, and Jamaal Magloire. What do they have in common with each other? Which one is not like the others?

SWAT isn't like the others. He's still there. Other than that I don't know.

As for what that whole crew has in common - all but one is gone, I know that much.

exactly--they are all gone. The nets are not a random collection of players. There is a plan in place.

2 things:

Yi isn't doesn't shoot the 3 very much.
Jacoby's arm is average at best, for a CF.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, in relation to the future. Not this season.

Will someone explain exactly what Yi is useful for? All the Bucks games I watched last year, Yi was just taking up space.

I don't care about Ellsbury's arm. He's a gold glove caliber center fielder and has unreal range out there.

watching bucks games last year, yi did look useless...but i didnt watch many bucks games....probably 10 or 12 of em.

same here... small sample is better no sample though

Yi was stuck with Mo Williams and Michael Redd. He'll do better with Vince and Harris.

He'll do better around Vince and Harris? how?? (#1warpoet)

Denver played very little defense. They traded all of it this offseason. The Celtics had three superstars, our team won it all, because we played defense and we didn't have any idiots on our team.

Well, you just keep getting more wrong.

Denver's best defensive player was and is Kenyon. They added Balkman who is a better defender than Najera.

Camby, for all of his pretty stats (blocks and rebounds) hurt the team defense.

Yi has a mid range game and can handle the ball well enough to create his own shot and shots for others. He is not a spot up shooter. He is a face up 4.

Yi never got touches in Milwaukee so that space taking can be blamed on a lack of ball distribution.

I view what I see at 82games.com with perspective, but if you look up what Najera did for the Nuggets, it's so stark that you have to be impressed.

Out of all the acquisitions the Nets made, he is the one the most teams could use and the one that will probably most affect the win column.

And how exactly did Camby 'hurt' the defense in Denver?

I'll give you the short version of my many rants

He doesn't rotate which leaves the rest of the team scrambling to pick up shooters because he wants to stay near the basket to pick up blocks. One of the reasons the Lakers killed the Nuggets is because they would work inside out and rotate the ball to an open shooter.

He is a horrid man defender.

Because he gambles for weak side blocks, he gives up a lot of basket to his man by leaving him wide open.

2. Magic- no major moves but kept their best guys together and added Pietres and Anthony Johnson to the mix. good pick ups
3. Cavs- this team goes as far as LeBron takes them and adding Mo Williams will help out alot and give LeBron some needed help offensively

but still, there is better competition in the NBA. point is that he looks healthy. Heat should be better with Beasley but I dont see him as a savior though. Wade, Marion, and Beasley should be good enough to be in the playoff race though, if healthy.
P.S. I dont think there new coach is any good either

Lebron on any team is a top 4 team in the east. Lebron goes as far as his cast can take him. With Mo Williams to take the ball handling and scoring pressure off him as a true PG, it will help Lebron. I think they're bigs will be their downfall. With Varejao, Wallace and Z as the 3 with experience, they need a mobile guy that can finish and none of those 3 are that. Without even going out and sniffing the FA market armed with an MLE, doesn't really bode well for LBJ sticking with the Cavs after his deal is done.

The question is if Mo IS a true PG.

at the very least he can bring it up the floor and make the easy pass as well as hit 3's and create his own shot.
running the offense remains to be seen.

It's Mo Williams' ability to shoot, and not his passing that will help Lebron. We'll have to see if everything else about him will hurt the Cavs though.
