OT National early signing day

No school in the PAC12 gets every player targeted.
I'd rater have some good surprises than disappointments.

A major change to the coaching staff (OC leaving to be head coach elsewhere) can cause kids to change their minds. If you are an offensive recruit, did your prospective role with the team just change?

I got really excited about recruiting the first year after the Ducks went to the Natty...... and then a lot of the dudes didn't pan out, or they transferred, or they reneged and went somewhere else. I realized that recruiting isn't the same thing as signing a big free agent in the NBA. It's more like a huge draft class and maybe one guy will work out.

Losing Arroyo won't affect them. Already signed the QB

It could have an effect for sure, I'm hoping that we have another guy lined up by the next signing day in Feb. That could change the minds of some to reconsider the Ducks?

recruiting has drastically changed over the years...

it used to be that the Ducks would only have 3 or 4 commits by mid-November, then, with signing day being late February, the class would start to fill up after Thanksgiving. And there would only be a couple of de-commitments or flips, one way or the other. Those days are long gone

Oregon had 22 commits by mid-September this year. And now, with two signing days, mid-December and mid-February, there's a lot more flux. That flux has increased because instead of one high-school all-star game there are now at least 3, plus the annual Poly-Bowl in Hawaii. Many more opportunities for recruits to work their brand; and many more opportunities for commits to lobby the uncommitted and soft commits. And keep in mind, a majority of these early commitments occur before a recruit's senior season in high school, and we know the mind of a 17 year-old can dramatically change in weeks, let alone in months

last year, Oregon had 7 de-commitments. There were four 4-star flips and three 3-star flips. But they made up for it in flips headed their way and in the transfer portal. Nature of the beast

Great day for the Beavers! Ducks too, I guess, lol.

Seriously though, the Ducks front 7 is going to be insane in a couple years. The top DE last year and this year the top 2 LBs.
