Nation's first transgender homecoming queen

I guess the first place I would point to is that poor black students today have a better opportunity for scholarships than poor white students according to a study I read over the summer.

Or more accurately, poor black students are given a better chance at going to school now than they have had in the past, whereas white students still have access to the same scholarships and financial aid they've had access too for many many many years.

Black people complained, and rightfully so, that they weren't be represented in tv commercials, so now they have to have a black person in them, but no one complains about sports and not having enough whites in them.

"Have to have a black person in them"? You mean they actually make commercials that more accurately represent our nation as a whole? Those bastards!

But really? the fact that the MAJORITY of TV stars are white isn't enough? Or that most news casters are white? Or that movie stars are white?

Look at the cast of Modern Family. There is 3 minorities, and the rest are whites.

Look at breaking bad. How many of them are a minority?

Look at the ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News and MSNBC, how many of their MAIN broadcasters/shows are minorities? Hell, look at Fox's lineup. How many of them are minority vs white?

Look at the movies that come out. How many of them are starring white people vs minorities?

Is this really a concern for you?

My sons little league was forced to give a black family a reduction in it's fees because they couldn't afford it, but did not offer the same for the white family right behind them, saying that the black family would sue for discrimination.

Did the same white family 'right behind them' have the same income levels?

Did they actually for it and request it, or just assume it wasn't going to given?

A black police officer approached me at a mall that is in a shitty part of town to tell me I shouldn't be there. I asked if the people in this area are allowed to go to the mall by my house, and he laughed and said "of course" I said then I should be allowed to go the this mall without any trouble. He escorted me out of the mall "for my own safety" because black people were complaining I was there.

anecdotal evidence is always fun. Did someone chase you out of the neighborhood, call you a racial slur, and then shoot and kill you and claim it was in self defense?

Or the fact that I am looked at as the devil for things that happened over 100 years ago simply because I am white

Who has said that? You are either deliberately making a straw-man, you're just incredibly dense. And since I've read more than 3 sentences you've written, I know you're not dense.

Do not confuse accepting that the horrific behaviors of the past have an impact on how society as a whole treats people today with you being a "devil".

You playing the victim is laughable.

As is it laughable when you do in this day and age

Your ducking is proof of absolute impotence. She certainly has more balls than you!

You might be on to something, she has more balls than you. Now that would account how the creator messing up the blend. You two were the result.

But really you have to know the creator gave us conservatives all you progressives so we would have plenty of targets when the civil war starts. Tally five and you make Terminator status.
Most of you shun guns so it's like a turkey shoot.

thanks for contributing (? I think that's a contribution) to the conversation.

I do not believe that answered my question. I looked it up, as I don't have a working knowledge of the bible specifics, and I don't feel that answered my question. "Do YOU think CHRIST would show compassion?"

If you really want to know, I believe that God is.

here is a link that mirrors my thinking in depth http://drtristacarr.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/diffusing-the-transgender-christian-debate/

I dont believe that gender is a issue in Gods eyes. Thats why my first reply was a short and sweet John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, and who so ever believes in him...." The term who so ever is all inclusive.

Here is another short read you may enjoy as well. You may be supprised in the variety of sources my reading material comes from. http://planetransgender.blogspot.com/2009/11/transgender-christ-on-path-less-taken.html

I think that interpretation has merit. I went back and read your responses, and they were actually fairly reasoned. Not that I agree with you, I don't find transgendered people gross at all, but your statements have not been inflammatory. I do hope that you look past those views (or grow beyond them) and are eventually able to see gender as inconsequential, but I do hope you also understand that this is a real person, a teenager, and someone who really was crying and shaking from her perceived pain. We are adults, and regardless mine or your beliefs, no need to crush any teenagers feelings who is not harming other people.

So only laws = Discrimination?

some actualy do

apply for a Gov job, or to a Collage and you start out below a person of color or female

also

where is your "White History Month"

White only Collage?

White TV channels?

Ya know, I kid some here..but there is some truth in this

The Rooney rule is ridiculous.

You have to interview a minority just because?

What ever happened to interviewing the best candidates regardless of race?

College = higher learning

Collage = higher number of photos in a frame

But yes, you are right...although I don't think there are any all black colleges any more.

And as will be said if it hasn't already, "every other month is white history month" (lame, but oh well)

I don't know how white people can overcome all this. It's just not fair . . .

Yes, there is some truth to it. But in context, when stacked up against other prejudices, it doesn't come up to knee high on a grasshopper. Just because there is some truth doesn't mean it's equal. And it certainly doesn't mean whites are oppressed.

So for the record, some of you are saying that black people as a whole are still oppressed in this country.

So for the record, some of you are saying that black people as a whole are still oppressed in this country.

I would say certain predominantly black areas are still oppressed. I would say there are many individual cases of bigotry and racism. But I also think this nation has blended cultures better than any in history and this is something to take great pride in.

But just because we have moved very far, doesn't mean there isn't still a way to go. But we should be proud of how far the majority of this nation has come towards seeing beyond race. And for those that don't see beyond it, we should continue to encourage their growth.

and you wonder why you draw my ire...you pester me for an indepth answer, I provide you with one, and you dont even have the smarts to bother to read it before you blather on "hope I look past those views (or grow beyond)" frankley, fuck you, you self important know it all. If you had taken two fucking minutes you would know just how far beyond your worthless opinion, I am.

So the areas of oppression are my fault as a white male? I am keeping their kids out of college? I am keeping their parents from making sure their homework is done? I am making them join gangs?

I had black neighbors growing up that worked 3 jobs so their kids could have a future, and black neighbors who did nothing but live on welfare and blamed everyone for it. Which one did I, as a white male, oppress?

Certain predominantly black areas aren't being oppressed by anyone but themselves. If they want things to change, then stop breaking in to businesses that open up in their area, and stop chasing away people with money simply because "they don't belong there"

Can someone explain to me why Asians have greatly prospered in this country and on average make more than whites?

Surely they have been oppressed too.

Ya, you got me. I kind of realized as I was typing that I was ascribing beliefs to you based on my view of what you might think rather than based on the actual text you provided. But I still posted it anyway, and that was wrong. Honestly, I am sorry.

First off, I am not claiming you are oppressing Black people. Just that there is oppression. And that we can work on fixing that oppression.

How did we get from a transgender homecoming queen to MM saying he's so persecuted because he gets looked at funny?

Link to that stat please; last chart I saw has Asians earning 85-90% what whites made.
