hmmm....15% and the cap would be dropping from 109M this season to 99M. The tax line would be 121M. A lot of teams, including Portland, would be in real binds

seems pretty extreme though

"A drop in the cap would also impact the starting figures for maximum salary contracts, which range from 25 to 30 to 35 percent of the cap."

that seems to go to what the platypus said about Dame's contract. A 15% drop would move his supermax 1st year salary from 43.8M down to about 37.2M. It probably wouldn't affect CJ's new contract though

Time for Blazer Fans to suck on them little chinese nuts now that it can affect our team's future cap flexibility!

yeah, If I'm paying good money for seats and some fuckface starts chanting about hong kong:

1. I'm telling them to shut the fuck up.
2. If they don't shut the fuck up, I'm going to assault them.

Eh.....I personally wouldn't go that far. I don't believe in using violence to suppress someone's beliefs, even if I disagree with them about something. BUT....I would find a legal and peaceful way of removing them from the arena, which Security and the police can legally do because it's private property, and I support private property rights. And if the protesters resist, whether passively or aggressively, then they should be removed by any means necessary within the scope of the law and operating procedures.

I will say though that I, like you, would be pissed if someone 2 rows behind me started screaming protest chants at the top of their lungs during a game. And seeing as this is Portland, then unfortunately it's bound to happen at some point this season.

Considering what China has done and is doing, this would be like apologizing because someone offended Hitler.
I want to hear Kapernick's take on why China isn't oppressive?

Yeah the original tweet was not a smart move at all. Wonder what he was thinking?
Just an example of how bold and aggressive extreme lefties and righties are, with in your face diplomacy and reckless participation with social media.

Its important for Chinese to save face immediately when they feel wronged. They then use their response as leverage to get something. Sorta like my wife does with me when i piss her off?

NBA doesn't want to lose their ever growing Chinese revenue stream and it appears as though they will do anything to keep it.
Just what China wants! they now have leverage to get something of value to them?

There will be an NBA team in China soon or at least an announcement one is on the way. Thats what they want and they will get on their terms. The NBA actually has planned on a franchise there, this will speed it up.
Lets not be naive, most every American Corporation wants a presence in China and not just for low wages, but for a huge huge market and also a launching pad for the rest of the Asian markets, as their income per capita increase which it has. None of these companies give a crap if they are repressive/socialist communist, its about MONEY and MARKET share.

Maybe Morey was just tired of traveling to China. Now he doesn't have to anymore.

barfo
He will become the first GM of a China based franchise...They have him right where they want him.

My opinion on this is getting a bit more clear. I originally and still feel the Morey tweet was pretty dumb from a guy in his position.

But my feeling on the entire situation is "Fuck China!".

I don't give a rats azz if they drop the NBA altogether. Maybe the Chinese people will eventually get tired of their government?
They should, they are repressive commie country that wants revenge on sins of the past.

The best timeline involves him removing himself from the nba because of this, then signs a $100 million per year contract in the Chinese league lol
Wouldn't surprise me at all in fact I bet Kapernik ends up owning a football franchise there.

As much as I want to support Hong Kong in this, I've always been very firm in my belief of leaving politics and social issues out of sports for this very reason.
How would you feel if Donald Trump bought the Patriots form his pal?

Just finished the whole thread and couldn't resist feedback. Sorry for being so outspoken at once.

Dude we've met you, the closest thing you could come to assault at the Blazer game is asking someone to put more of it on your pretzel.

No there won't. The logistics would prevent it.

I'm usually pretty chill, but I have a low tolerance for bullshit. And people yelling political chants while I'm trying to watch my Blazers play basketball is some fucking bullshit.

Well it seems more American corporations are in favor of helping the Chinese stifle Hong Kong.

Seems very weird to me, how libs talk much about human rights, even insist Trump include such in trade talks with China. But then, the NBA, Apple, Google, big liberal American corporations all back China! Or is this pocket book liberalizm?

How would you feel if Donald Trump bought the Patriots form his pal?

Why would that be political? Is it bought with tax payer money while he's President, or is he purchasing the team with his own private wealth? Is it renamed "Republicans Patriots" (or any other politicized name)? Is it being used as a political tool? Is Trump holding political rallies during games? What if Trump just wants a football team unrelated to politics?

I'll tell you what I don't appreciate: ANY politician, whether it's Trump or anyone else, sending out Tweets that take stabs at sports-related issues, such as his spat with Kaepernick. I'm no fan of Kaepernick or his bullshit ignorance and hypocrisy, but I also wasn't a fan of Trump getting involved in that at all.
