Didn't stop anyone from taking Amare, Brand, McGrady, Roy, Wade, Paul, etc.

That type of thinking is how Chris Paul drops to #23 and everyone goes "Damn! I picked Jason Kidd 15 spots earlier so I could win the voting. What was I doing?"

And for anyone doubting that pick because Oden has been hurt, please. He will heal and he will be a top center in the league. He's the second coming of David Robinson, and he has a lot more help at his age than David Robinson did in 1989.</div>

That's a solid comparison IMO. When I saw him play, he very much reminded me of Robinson.
</div>

I remember getting bashed previously because of giving him a loose comparison to David Robinson.

He's a more explosive athlete than Robinson, but it's not a terrible comparison.

Can the Blazers win the championship? I think they can.
</div>

They might not win the Championship this year, but they could. They're probably more likely to be this year's version of what the Hornets were in 2008 and what the Jazz were in 2007, suprise teams who are really really good now and will be great in the future.

Oden's got Brandon Roy, David Robinson had to wait 8 years to get a perennial All-Star alongside him.

(But do it silently, to yourself, because you can't post about undrafted players.)</div>

______ Foyle.

He actually was 7th on my list of available centers. I don't really expect much out of rookies coming off of a year of injury. Especially when guys at his position tend to take longer to be good.
</div>

So if you were a GM drafting a team right now you would take seven centers before Greg Oden?

Is the world going to blow up in 2009?

well, my list was really only taking next year into account. In which case, yes I would. He has a good chance of being better than all of them, however, so taking the future into account, I may have still taken a couple ahead of him, just for being the sure thing.

Possibly, though Robinson was a terrific athlete. I don't see Oden ever scoring like Robinson did though.

I can see AI being a corner stone, but you're fucked if you're building around Marion.

You are a GM. Your job is to draft the best team. If you draft a team that's only good by 2007 standards you are going to get fired.

yeah, but pretty much all that I've been in have been ignored after the voting. Until we want to laugh at ZAE. I'm not saying that's the right way, but its just the way that I was expecting, I guess.

I won the voting drafting exactly like this. And I didn't even care or try!

Like I said, just draft a team you are happy with. It's supposed to be fun. Don't worry about who you "should" take.

ghoti is just saying that so he can get all the good players.

I didn't really want anyone in the top 5 other than Dwight, so if he didn't drop to me, I was definitely going to trade my pick in favor of a later pick so that I'd get a player I do like...instead of having to draft Kobe, or someone like that who I didn't want.

No way Vince got passed 2.

You can't go wrong with James, Paul, or Howard (those all sound like first names).

Add Kobe to that as well.

Well, I figured James and Bryant were 1st-2nd. And then I was hoping 3rd would be Paul, so I could get Dwight. But if Paul fell to me, I might have considered him..or, I simply would have traded for a 1st and a 2nd (for my 1st and maybe my 4th).

With a top 5 pick, I really wanted Dwight though.

The Golden State Warriors <strike>are forced to</strike> would like to announce their new assistant GM...#1_War_Poet_ForLife(Stefanski or otherwise known as Stefanskiski)

building around Marion is f*cked.

I'd say

Lebron
Cp3
KG
Dwight
Kobe
Duncan

Are the true superstars who you build around..(Duh...)

hvnt really seen how Brandon Roy plays like... how does he play like?

Wade I guess?

Which players do you see breaking out as a franchise player next year?

Six hours is fine, leave it alone.

We've done this 3 or 4 years straight and we always finish in a month. If you think that's too much time, go watch an NBA game, oh wait.

I'm back for anyone interested in my pick. I'm not 100% sold on moving down, but if the deal is right I'll do it.
