NBA Playoffs Thread - Play-in and 1st round edition

They are fun to watch.

16 years worth of lottery picks finally paid off!

Took a while, but in 3 days, they beat the Warriors more times in the Playoffs than the Blazers have in how many years? I'd rather have their group of under 26 year old talent than what we have. The new GM is taking them in a much better direction and Ranadive is letting him have the reigns. I hope we can built a young nucleus as exciting as what they have.

LOL...careful, you'll injure yourself with that kind of stretch

the Warriors teams in the years the Blazers played them went:

73-9 with a 34-7 road record...#1 seed
67-15 with a 31-10 road record...#1 seed
58-24 with a 29-1 road record...#2 seed
57-25 with a 27-14 road record...#1 seed

so on average, those teams were the #1 seed, had a 66-16 record, and won over 30 games a year on the road.

the Warriors team the Kings are playing is the 6th seed, barely escaping the play-in, and had a 44-38 record and an 11-30 record on the road. For whatever reason, this year's Warrior team is a shell of the teams that the Blazers faced

I love the way the Kings play. However, is their accomplishment/roster worth 16 years of being awful? Not to me. I'm going to guess this group is never a championship team anyway.

It should also be noted, comparing this years Warriors team to the version 4-7 years ago is not apples to apples. I will continue to root for the Kings to beat them though!

I don't see anything in my post that was incorrect or even a stretch. Completely factual. Sure, the Warriors were always the higher seed, but we've seen what #6 seeds can do to #3 seeds before. (Pelicans/Blazers)

God tell me about it.. matter fact dame has never beaten the warriors in the playoffs when Curry is playing. Smh

NY did not show up tonight after a big win last game. Hart so far with a +/- of -28 (Yes I realize it is a useless individual stat)

VERY different Warriors team FAMS.

Interesting that you point out the only #3 vs #6 upset since 2015. I don't think anyone would say upsets are impossible, but history would say these types of upsets are far from the norm.

97% of NBA championships are #3 seeds or higher.

lol...no, nothing was "incorrect"

there was a large does of distorted context though in your "they beat the Warriors more times in the Playoffs than the Blazers have in how many years?"

the Kings didn't beat the 73-9 Warriors or the 67-13 Warriors. They didn't beat the Warriors when they had Durant or when Curry, Klay, Durant, and Green were all in their 20's. They didn't beat the Warriors who averaged 66 wins in the regular season or 30 wins on the road. They didn't beat the Warriors who were the #1 seed in 3 of 4 years and #2 seed in the year they weren't

the Kings won two home games against a 6 seed with a 44-38 record (the same record as Portland when the Blazers first played GS in the playoffs) and the same 6th seed who had by far the worst road record of any team in the playoffs (either conference) at 11-30. Memphis had the next worst road record at 16-25. There really is nothing about this Warriors team, other than the names on the jerseys, that is like the teams Portland faced

I pointed out one that included the Blazers...on a Blazer forum. I see how that was confusing.

Yes...and I'm guessing almost everyone here knew all of that. Still.....doesn't changed what has happened. Steph, Klay, Dray, Looney, Wiggins, Payton, Kuminga, Poole, Kerr....all the same as last year's defending champs....since we are pointing out obvious things.

Help me understand your point in bringing it up.

You didn't think people were aware of that series? You believe that there is a correlation between that series and this Kings/Warriors series?

I was just responding to a post. But the predictable responses and contraction were....predictable, so I decided to play along to see how silly it would get. I don't get it....seems tiresome. So I'm done with that part....but I'm guessing, there will still be responses. So have at it.

Enjoy!

I hope there are still responses on a message board! The Knicks made to the finals at the #8 seed. Watch out for the Atlanta Hawks!

You can respond if you want. Fire away!

Sure....my responses were Blazer related. Knicks? Hawks? Excellent....well done. I didn't feel like including the history of the rest of the league. Fair enough?

Thanks for helping me understand the point you were trying to make.

Ha… The Kings have beat the Warriors twice barely.
Let’s visit this conversation again on Sunday after they get smoked two games.
You all know it’s coming.

wut?

yes, you correctly pointed at the Kings winning these last 2 games against the Warriors. Fact is fact

but it was also you that tried to draw a context-free correlation between what the Kings just did and what the Blazers from 4-7 years ago did, or didn't do.
And of course, since it was the blazers from 4-7 years ago it was also the Warriors from 4-7 years ago. The Kings did not beat the Warriors team the Blazers played in 2016 or 2017 0r 2019. They beat the Warriors team of 2023, and this Warrior's team is not close to the class of those past Warrior's teams Portland played. Maybe they will be by June, but it sure doesn't look possible at this point

Why I hate CP3, trying to be tough and why Kawhi

Warriors +135 to win the series. +380 if you think they're winning in 6.

Go make some money!
Probably should get that down quick because it's going to change after the next two games.
Don't get me wrong because I'm so ready for the Warriors to lose. Just not convinced after seeing game one and knowing those shots fall quite a bit. If this series was 1-1 right now we all know what people would be saying.
Still fact remains the Kings are up 2-0 and the Warriors have to win 4 of the next 5 with at least one of those wins on the road. Tough to do against any team in the playoffs.

Pretty much the way I felt about Rasheed Wallace.

Rasheed could be a verbal idiot, but he wasn't kicking people in the groin or stomping on an opponent or doing the physical things that Green does. I think he should have been suspended more often. He has been allowed to get away with nonsense that nobody else has. Glad he finally got suspended again. It took long enough. And that crap with the fans isn't good either. That is what can make for a bad situation. You can't taunt on the floor, yet he was going full bore at the Kings fans.

So if Green gets another Flagrant 2, or two Flagrant 1s he'll automatically be suspended another game I believe?

I sure hope the Blazers don't consider trading for this guy, I'd rather have scrubs or young players than an aging Green on a near max contract. I'd rather have Josh Hart.

How about Rasheed Wallace resounding 41 T's in a season coupled with 29 ejections. People around this place actually think he was worth it?
You are absolutely correct. Draymond Green on the downside of his career would be a terrible move.
