Aldridge and Lillard at Nos. 5 and 7 on the list. Dang! No wonder the Blazers are pushing to the top of the league.

Hmm...I wonder if there is any validity to those rankings.

The NBA Total Player Ratings are a total player-rating system based on various offensive and defensive statistics. Players increase their scores with every contribution they make to the game.

Yet, they don't show how they calculated those rankings.

Btw, Kobe is there at #17.

I was wondering the same thing, but looking at the company they're in (regardless of Kobe), it's not a bad place to be.

The grouping is nice if you're a Blazer fan. However, it doesn't mean much without measures of reliability.

Hard to believe that Curry plays fewer minutes than Lillard.

I think it's primarily attributable to the large number of blowout wins the Warriors have had this season.

Westbrook is #23 yet leading the NBA in PER and several other advanced offensive stats, so obviously there's something seriously arbitrary involved in this calculation.

It's really no different than the one I came out with a few weeks ago. It's all subjective because you can't include every single stat.

But RW is probably penalized because he hasn't played as many games.

That would be the only semi-logical explanation. Since time missed due to injury is largely random it also makes the rating kind of pointless as a predictor of short-term value.

I think record is also an indicator

maybe this takes into account how much of a douche bag you are.

No, that can't be it..Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Carmelo Anthony are all top 10.

The thing is, his games played was a huge advantage because the sample size was so small.

Clearly stupid. Look at Butler ahead of Lillard. He plays almost 5 more minutes, scores less has half the assists and one more rebound per game. Shoots a bit higher percentage from the floor, five less from FT ................clearly stupid.

Butler is the most overrated player in the NBA

Statistically speaking in terms of percentage not all that small. Westbrook has played in 17 of his team's 31 games.

Also the Thunder are 11-6 in games he played so if he's being penalized for their record it's for games he didn't play in.

The negative dickhead factor probably lowered his score.

Beat me to it, I see.
