This is not a new debate. For most of the sports, the players have grown bigger/faster/stronger so the court or field is "too small."
Guys didn't dunk when it was peach baskets nailed to the wall.
The argument goes they should make the football field wider, ice rink bigger, bball court wider and longer plus raise the basket.
It's not like they haven't added the :24 clock, 3pt shot, changed hand check rules, instant replay, zone defense, flopping, etc.
If they did raise the basket, dunks would be more rare and have more value, perhaps.
Baseball is the only major sport where the field is still ideal. A stolen base is a close play, it's a chance at the plate on sac flies, 105 MPH is an elite pitch, etc. they did lower the mound in the 60s and instituted the DH and inter league play.
No game is that static.
