They are regular season games. Are you saying there is zero incentive to play hard in the regular season? It’s going to be fun.I agree absolutely one of the dumbest things the NBA has done. There’s zero incentive to play hard in this tourney.
Grizz, Suns,Lakers,Jazz
Our group has been selected: Lakers, Suns, Grizzlies, Jazz, Blazers.
There was a draw based on last season’s standings. We play each of the other 4 teams once. 2 at home, 2 on road. On Tuesdays & Fridays. How were the teams grouped? Random or ???

Way to be on top of it man. Nice work. Our group has been selected: Lakers, Suns, Grizzlies, Jazz, Blazers.
It IS incentivized monetarily. There is a prize pool. And if you’re one of the really rich players, it’s good team building to help win the prize for the young guy on the end of the bench.the first games count but championship game doesn’t. IMO it will be treated like an exhibition game for young players. Only way you incentivize it is monetarily but not sure how you do that for superstars who make a shit load.
I'm dying. So funny.Way to be on top of it man. Nice work.

I think the winner of the tournament should get a guaranteed play-in spot.
Make it mean something.

It’s unreal FAMS…..and Sly is enabling the system.I'm dying. So funny.
Agreed, this will be one of the best changes the NBA has made in the last 30 years.Yeah, that'll go well...
Yeah its a great idea and a great format. Just changes 4 boring games to group stage. 8 teams go to Vegas for knockout round and other 22 teams stay at home playing 2 games on off days.i'm prolly one of the few that are looking forward to this
Don’t see it lasting 5 years.Yeah its a great idea and a great format. Just changes 4 boring games to group stage. 8 teams go to Vegas for knockout round and other 22 teams stay at home playing 2 games on off days.
7 games in Vegas over 3 days of games with 8 teams to get the cup. All games win or go home. That'll be a ton of fun to see in person, way better than the totally meaningless all-star weekend.
Yeah some grumpy old men on this forum don't like the idea. Let's see what they think 5 years from now. This will be a huge hit.
Because 82 games is a ridiculously boring grind.I don't understand why they want to do it. More viewers? I can see a lot of load management during this thing.
This tourney accomplishes 90% of what your suggesting. Games start November 3rd very early in the season. 8 teams go to neutral site in Vegas for knockout rounds. I think it's great as is and am eager to see it. Would be a ton of fun to go to Vegas for those 4 days of knockout games.I'd actually like to see a tournament like this with every single team at the beginning of the season and neutral sites. Single elimination. Whoever plays who gets one of those games knocked off their schedule, so the 82-game schedule holds. It would be a fun way to gather interest in the NBA to kick off the season.
People are skeptical because, why fuck with it if it ain’t broke. The league viewership numbers during the playoffs and this summer league are at an all time high. Leave well enough alone.Because 82 games is a ridiculously boring grind.
Instead they will now play 76 games and 6 that are both regulars season and tourney games.
There will be the same or less load management than today so I don't understand your criticism.
