Any exciting players in NCAAW? Do a lot of women leave after their freshmen year like men?

I know as many women players right now as in mens. Only thing I know of college basketball is supposedly NBA has some very good draft prospects.

Women nearly always stay. WNBA unlike men has age requirement so most women who enter draft have spent four years in college. Also, fewer pro opportunities for women and those that do go pro, unlike men, aren't going to earn enough in five years to last rest of their life. So getting a degree makes financial sense.

Jazzy Davidson from Clackamas High School is probably the best freshman in the country.

*Edit* She's almost certainly going to play in the WNBA after she graduates

Makes sense, thanks.

In the First Four, Southern earned right to get clobbered by South Carolina and Missouri State by Texas in the #16 matchups. Virginia edged Arizona State in a two point win and will face Georgia, while Nebraska takes in Baylor.
Tomorrow UConn gets ABC game so they can fold, spindle and mutilate UTSA on network TV.

Oregon at 10:30 and Washington 11:30. Not great planning for Pacific Northwest folks.

Ducks by 8 at 8 minute mark third quarter.

After terrible start, UW came back with crushing win. Oregon won by ten. Looked like Nebraska would pull off first upset if tournament but Baylor pulled it out late.

Something I noticed watching the lady ducks today was the one with the big knee brace on. Just found it interesting you never see guys playing in braces like that anymore. Is it the style of play? Is it common for the lady’s recovering from knee injuries to come back earlier? Just found it odd. Was good to see the ducks win.

When my daughter was recovering from her ACL tear and replacement They said she could wear the brace if it made her feel better. But the brace doesn't actually add any structural support.

They did want her to wear it for the first week or two, but they said if she felt comfortable after that she could go without, because it wasn't helping structurally any longer.

She hated wearing it. So after the first week she threw it away.

Two #9 beat #7, Syracuse over Iowa State and USC over Clemson. Biggest upset of first round, Virginia, a First Four team, upset #7 Georgia.

UW and TCU underway. TCU has won 40 consecutive games at home so they have huge home court advantage but UW only down two after first quarter.

Couple of thrillers today. Louisville beat Alabama by one point. Then Virginia upset Iowa in double overtime. Virginia, a First Four team, last made Sweet Sixteen before any of their current players were born.
Iowa still sells out every home game. It wasn't just about Caitlin Clark.

TCU coached by ex Oregon City assistant coach (and son-in-law of Brad Smith) Mark Campbell.

He's a great coach.

Sign at Kentucky/West Virginia game, "John Denver never wrote a song about Kentucky".
True.
But Kentucky still won, by one point.

UConn up 65-9 at half. Is there a mercy rule in basketball?

Notre Dame and Vanderbilt tied with 26 seconds.
As I typed Notre Dame scored. Still 23 seconds. Hannah Hidalgo dominant both ends of floor.
Vandy with turnover. 19 seconds.

Hidalgo triple double, 31 points, 10 steals, 10 rebounds, 7 assists.

Hidalgo is the second woman to have 30 point triple double in tournament (Caitlin Clark the other).

I had LSU as one possible team not from Connecticut that could win it all. Instead they were upset by Duke in a thriller. Duke had led most of fourth quarter but a 10-0 LSU run out LSU ahead by a point with 2.6 seconds left. Duke's Ashton Johnson hit a three at the buzzer to win in true Dame Time fashion.

Clock struck midnight as Cinderella team Virginia eliminated by TCU. A First Four team, got to Sweet Sixteen, out up a good fight.

None of the #1 seeds have been challenged.
