Some of you guys can try to rationalize it all you want. The truth is, the negative comments, especially those in game threads, are read by the players. At some point, all of the negative talk DOES have an affect on the players.
You know they read the forum? How?

As long as Dame fails to step up this team will be stuck on this treadmill of mediocrity.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Remember, we were supposed to win 26 games and be the second worst team in the league, and yet here we are in the second round of the playoffs. Take a deep breath and enjoy that for a second.

The seasons in the past where we were SUPPOSED to win 50+ games and we actually DID, the games threads were EXACTLY the same. They haven't changed at all. We would beat the Suns by 12 and there would be people on here freaking out that we didn't win by 20!

I used to be blown away and ask how in the hell you could be negative about ANY aspect of a 12 point win on the road and people would crack on me for being a homer. I'll never forget NateBiship called me out once on here saying my opinion doesn't hold much credibility because I NEVER post anything negative about the team. That I was too much of a homer.

Now this season we were SUPPOSED to suck and we DIDN'T and I get called out by all these nerds about being so negative.

Suck it up, and get over yourself. This place will never change and that's why I love coming on here! There will always be those who are negative regardless and those who are positive regardless and hopefully those like myself who's opinions and expectations will change with each roster move.

But all this bullshit about people's feeling getting hurt because others opinions aren't the same as yours? Grow a pair or find a new hobby....... #GETTHEFUCKKOUTTAHEREWITHTHATSHITFAMS!

IMO some of it is deserved.

Our franchise player is getting torched and his career playoff numbers are, at best, mediocre.

As long as Dame fails to step up this team will be stuck on this treadmill of mediocrity.

He has yet to have a decent series.

Dame averages 22 pts., 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds against the Clippers despite getting double-teamed nonstop.

He scored 30 points and had 5 assists yesterday despite playing with a nasty cold and having Klay Thompson draped around him most of the game.

Perhaps that word "mediocre" doesn't mean what you think it does.

The reason we're not in mediocrity right now is BECAUSE of Dame.

Wow.

Desire for improvement is not negative.

Saying someone is garbage without giving a recourse is negative.

There's a very solid difference.

That said, game threads are kneejerk in nature... instantaneous reactions to a fluid game. So I understand both sides.
And who brought "player x is garbage" and "season over" to the board vernacular?

KingSpeed did, in a previous incarnation.

So...WTF?

It's getting tiresome and it is disguised as "being realistic." The worst, though, is the way players on our team are SLAMMED during game threads. Aminu was our only guy shooting well in the first half yesterday and he had a block and grabbed big rebounds but all everyone typed was about how bad he was. The dude personally won a playoff game for us in the last round! I went to Game 6 and it was wonderful. 20,000 people rooting FOR our team, CHEERING when our players score.

Sinobas and Tunchi are probably the worst but everyone tends to join in, overreacting to any "bad" thing our team does. I read the Game 6 thread when I got home and the posts were mostly negative even though it was only the 2nd time in 16 years that we've won a playoff series.

I think I'm going to take a step back. Some people may be happy with that because they are turned off by my positivity.

Enjoy the rest of the playoffs, guys and Vanilla Gorilla, riverman, and Orion Bailey, keep up the good fight. Maybe I'll come back after this series, I don't know.

If you leave now you're not getting that $100 Mr.

Think of it this way, some of you have jobs, maybe.
Would you like to keep getting negative messages from a bunch of outsiders that you do not know, or can see? Or more important, getting negative messages from people that do not know you? Would you like to read they want you gone from your job because of how bad you are at some part of your job?

Only post comments you would say to the player in person. Constructive criticism can be useful, if done correctly. But it can also be harmful if done improperly. Much that is posted here is destructive criticism.

When making constructive criticism, a successful technique to use is the sandwich technique. Place a negative between two positives. Example, I like how player X makes a high % of 3 pt shoots. But his assist to TO ratio needs work, he needs to work on making better passes. Sure glad we have his better than average free throw shooting on our team.

Negative venting on the internet is for babies.

How do you know players read the game threads?

He scored a bulk of his 30 in the fourth when the game was well out of reach.

Are you not going to touch on his shooting percentage?

He's averaging 23 ppg on 20 fga/per -- 36% shooting.

His defense is atrocious and he's taking a lot of bad shots.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out the negatives. Why sugarcoat?

Why dont i ever get recognized as a super homer? All i ever do is praise the guys for having giant dicks.

The 60 second manager philosophy. And it absolutely works...ESPECIALLY with a young average employee age. Most minds are fragile. Even at this type of top NBA level.

Agreed. I look at the forum like the HCPs wife. It takes all kinds.

He altered 8 shots I read after the game...closest player to get a hand on the ball on defense had 3...he did not play horrible defense...he attacked double teams all night long with what seems like a flu bug or respiratory problem...the guy is tough..give him some credit. Fact is nobody can shut the Warriors down defensively on most nights. Dame has been far from mediocre from my perspective. He's shown true leadership

23 points on 20 shots is efficient, especially against playoff defense.

Not.

Swayed.

Curious. Have you watched one of the playoff games? Any of them? Your stance is of someone who really hasn't been paying attention and is just looking at stats.....
Seriously. Do you watch the games, or do you just read post game stats and manifest the game in your head as to how you think it went? I'm genuinely asking.

Being double teamed and only having one other star level player on your team tends to mean you're going to have to force some shots. It's not as though there are a lot of other options if the Blazers are going to win. Put Green on this team, and Dame's shot selection and shooting percentages will go up.

Give me a fucking break with this shit.

What would this forum be without the drama?

BTW, that's not rhetorical. It's a serious question. There has been so much drama for so long, I can't even get my brain around what this forum would be without it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Different viewpoints and discussion are what make this place fun to be apart of. Constructive criticism, and positive reinforcement are two great viewpoints to discuss. Getting butt hurt, because you don't agree with people and leaving is lame. IMO.

Edit: and sometimes people just make boneheaded plays and you want to vent! it's sports damn it!

I was thinking more like enjoyable or fun, but that's just me.

Everyone is different i suppose. I like the internet cause people say all the bullshit in their minds, typically with little to no filter. That to me is entertainment. But i forget that not everyone is like me. i have no buttons to push, nothing anyone says has any affect on my mood or life.
