We all moderate the forum a little different, there is no instruction manual. Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. I'm guessing less then 1% of posts and threads on here get deleted, moved, or edited, which is far less than what happens in other forums. That shows that we very much support free and open discussion.

I agree with Denny that the thread needed something done with it. Personally, I would have copied the thread title into the body of the post and then merge/bury the thread in with one of the many Olshey threads. Not sure if that would have been better or worse. Merging threads upset people almost as much as moving them. Hell, I received complaints this week about not merging threads.

Joining a forum is much like attending a party at someone’s home. Things can get crazy fast. That is why party throwers set rules to limit the damage the guests can cause. Rules are often adjusted and enforced based on the past history of their guests.

The point is, this is not our house. We do not set or enforce the rules at this party. If you do not like the rules, you are free to leave and visit some other party. But I doubt you will find many forums that support, let alone tolerate, threads started and based only on hate and anger. Although the ISIS forums might, but that is only a rumor to me, I have never visited their site. However, my guess is, if you do not agree with their hate and anger, you may lose your head.

I've been treating Denny as if he's the owner. You mean he's only a worker here? The class system is incredibly complex, and you insinuate that you don't like anything he does. Why not please both sides? Run the thread simultaneously in both boards. Or, run 2 separate threads with the same title except for the cuss word, putting the politically correct posts onto the main board, and the dirty complainers onto the OT board. For posts posted to the wrong version of the thread, you could appoint a Special Master to pluck out posts and put each into the appropriate version of the thread.

Denny doesn't believe in bureaucracy, but life is complicated, and if he wants to grow the board, he'll have to add a lot of specialized moderators to audit threads.

The Blazers old official msg board site was filled with negative thread titles that showed up on the Blazers home page panes highlighted as the newest threads posted...not only did the forum die...the space devoted to msg threads disappeared forever from the Blazers homepage..if we want to remain the official forum for the Blazers...we might not want to put titles like this thread into the headlines of the day inbox on the fanpage. Posts won't show up there, but headlines used to. Blazers Edge is going to love it if we keep it up..

Exactly. I think more threads should be terminated for lack of explanation. Not only does he use a curse word in the title, he offers nothing on what he would have done differently.
