"In particular, Olshey said he wants a player with specific qualities: A shooter who is also a willing passer as well as a smart defender."

"But first, it must be understood that to get something, the Blazers must give up something. It's safe to assume that Olshey will not touch the starting five of Lillard, Wesley Matthews, Batum, LaMarcus Aldridge and Lopez. Veterans Steve Blake and Kaman are core players, and Olshey remains highly protective with two of his former lottery picks in CJ McCollum and Meyers Leonard."

Looking at numbers there aren't a lot to choose from - Jared Dudley fits those qualities to a T.

He's a career 40% from three and a smart defender, a better version of Ime Udoka. Can play both SG/SF, he makes a ton of sense.

Jared Dudley would be a great fit, depending upon the cost... I'd love to see him in Portland!

Sounds like Allen Crabbe, no?

I think Neil is blowing smoke here.

I think you guys are thinking about the Jared Dudley who killed us in the playoffs when he played for Phoenix.
That is not the Jared Dudley we would get. I have not seen that player for a while.

Dudley would be great but Milwaukee seems to be playoff bound and looking at their roster it is very balanced; I can't see them as a trading partner.

James Johnson (TOR)?
Mike Muscala (ATL)?

Johnson would be interesting, but he's an awful shooter. And TOR is fucking around with his spot in the rotation. But he's tough and plays great D. All that said, I think I'd take the Wright/Claver combo over him.

Gary Neal? Expiring deal, championship level experience. Charlotte going nowhere, his name was mentioned in Charlotte-Brooklyn talks, can move in as 3rd team. Shot off this year but career good shooter, decent defender, willing passer. Fits most the description

As long as it's a vet with playoff experience and wing that can get to the line, I will be a happy fan. I don't want a young player that sits on the bench as some insurance policy. That's stupid!

think Afflalo

Think how we get him without giving up any key pieces. Robinson, Wright & Barton? My guess is Denver would only do it if they want to blow things up and then they'd be looking for a draft pick as well.

I think they wouldn't be interested with T.Rob because they have Hickson and Manimal

Probably only if they're interested in cutting salary for a rebuild. Afflalo has one more year on his contract. TRob, Wright & Barton are all expiring contracts, but I'd think that they'd still want our 1st rounder in order to be interested.

I think Denver would want freeland and CJ or Crabbe. I don't know if I like that deal

Crabbe, t rob, claver and a first for afflalo
I still believe that Denver wouldn't want to take back T. Rob. They already have 2 power forwards. And if it's a "salary dump", then they could easily find a team that has expiring and a higher first rounder option.

I think Denver would want young players that are on contract. CJ, Crabbe, Freeland, and Barton would be the players I suspect them to be interested in.

Give them Freeland then. I would rather keep him, but I'd deal him in a deal for afflalo if jermaine would sign with us

I think they would definitely consider CJ, Freeland and Claver for Afflalo
Why would they consider Freeland, but not Robinson, when it'd be primarily about Crabbe and CJ or pick.

4 things....

1.) Freeland can actually play center and defend against other centers.

2.) Freeland is still under contract, so they can keep him.

3.) T. Rob, he is an unrestricted free agent and the rookie salary exclusion is transferred to them. They wouldn't be able to give him more than what his rookie scale salary is.

4.) Denver has 2 PF already

Am I the only one that thinks this whole thread is useless because it's based on a Quick column?

CJ MCcollum not part of the core along with other young guys...Music to my ears

Freeland is better at playing center and he has more upside.
