Yeah, which he expected them to do because he put his impending departure out on twitter before talking to them. He forced their hand, and forced them to pay out the entirety of his remaining contract rather than leaving money on the table.
 
Olshey's issue is that he has a skewed perspective when it comes to value. He seems to understand value when bringing in players. But when he is sending out players he over values them. He thinks they are worth more than they are, and other teams aren't buying it.

Yeah, because you know everything that he's offered etc etc etc. Safe to say that Neal's pinky toe knows more about NBA talent than you do.

As fans we have to live with it. But his roster is not ok right now. No matter how much hot air comes out of his mouth. It doesn't make ok where his team and roster is at the moment. How many times have we said, "we'll just wait til the summer" or ""we'll wait for the deadline" for him to make his splash. The man is absent. He is no longer even good at keeping the comraderie together for the team.

He's just bad. And doesn't need anymore of his own excuses or yours or mine to story tell what is going on. Someone else needs an opportunity to get this roster where he can't take it.
 
There are a half-dozen posters here who are clearly paid to defend Blazer management. I have the Polaroids. Year after year, whenever anyone calls for a change, the same people show up in the threads. It all starts at the top with Denny. Follow the money.
 
Where is the thread, "Neil Olshey defenders coming soon." They are proactive in starting threads like this to defend him, in order to beat titles like that.

Kings could be worse off... They could be losing that dominant player for no compensation. Like we did a couple years ago...

What I did learn from watching the Bulls operate is how you build a winning team (they had lots of winning records). Luck into a DRose (we have Dame, who's actually about the same, and we have CJ). Keep your draft picks and keep signing those guys except for the guys that utterly fail (see Marquis Teague or Tony Snell). I also learned how you maneuver under the CBA rules, avoiding the LT.

I wish NO could snap his fingers and trade our 2nd round draft pick for a superstar who won't destroy the team morale, but I'm a realist.

Every single move he's made has been text book.

About the only thing to do at this point is to change coaches. A new coach who will get the guys playing defense.

If you don't have the talent to win based on talent, you will win if you play elite defense.

Going after free agents was stupid. Losing Aldridge for nothing was stupid. Aside from those two items I think he's done a pretty good job.

The fact that someone paid "market value" is irrelevant if it exceeds his budget.

Your analogy doesn't even apply as the concept of investment is completely different. In this case the guy paying the $$$ out authorized the financial expenditure. So while you seem completely intent on blaming Olshey exclusively that's misguided as Paul, again the guy financing the whole thing approved everything.

All do respect OneLifetoLose. You mock him for being a soap actor but your posts sound like a drama queen.

It does make sense where our team is right now and we are going to be ok. Sure there's been some missteps and regrettable contracts but now is not the time to throw the baby out with the bath water. It's not like the Warriors are beatable the next two years anyway and there's no magical GM that's going to snap us into contention. At least with Neil we have a solid talent evaluator and a guy who can pull off a quality trade. Obviously you don't believe but all you gotta do is wait, and see :wink:
 
I guess I can't blame this on Olshey because I guess 28 other GM's passed, but I just read some more details on the Noel trade. That Dallas first round pick is so protected it will most likely to morph into 2 2nd round picks. So two second round picks plus a guy who I wouldn't consider any better prospect than Vonleh, in fact he has lower shooting % from both 2 and 3. I just don't get this. I mean maybe he wouldn't fit with us now but just as a trade asset?

I guess it was him being a restricted free agent, which means he would not have been a trade asset, so why get him.

I think it is pretty easy to find young, tall, thin, players who can jump out of the gym, but have a below average skill set on offense. They are still good players but they are nothing special. Even if they are drafted high like Stromile Swift or Tyrus Thomas. I think Noel is better than those two but I don't think very many teams want to pay him a lot. But yeah I would have taken a chance on Noel for what Dallas got him for.

IMO last summer saw the height of ridiculous contracts and unfortunately we did way too much. I think we are going to see more sober deals this summer as compared to last

yes it did, and it did for me for yesterday as well. Don't hate NO, just think he made some bad money decisions last summer but what we don't know is how much that was or was not influenced by PA?

and I agree about last summer being the pinnancle of GM stupidity and getting caught up in paying ridiculous amounts for average players. I think we will see some big deals this yr but nothing like the absurdity of last summer. The cap flattens out after this and the smart GM's will be careful because there will be LOT less money available after this summer and much more reasonable contracts given out especially as players under "bargain contracts" like Avery Bradley and many others hit the market.
 
Man, here it is a day later and I am still swamped with happiness. I am overwhelmed trying to process all of Olshey's achievements yesterday. What a bumblebee of an energy bunny. This calls for 5 more threads to celebrate his greatness. I'm leaving to buy cake candles, one for every trade he made yesterday. Then I'll bake a cake, one layer for every giant step forward from yesterday. You guys stay busy celebrating in this thread.
